Hi
Looking for a new band having recently relocated and I'm available for Areas. I have left Burbage Buxton Band (3rd Section) and looking for a new band similar level. I haven't played for 6 months!!

I have poseted before and haven't recieved alot of interest. I cannot travel very far due to work committments, so as local as possible. Thanks

Hi Stella, I am Adrian the conductor of Littleborough Band. We are looking for a bass player, we are about 10 miles outside the Huddersfiled area. We are a friendly hard working 4th section band.

Do you fancy coming along to a rehearsal for a blow, and to see our team?

Our rehearsals are Monday & Thursday evenings 7:45pm to 9:45pm

My Mobile number is 07770465052 or you can email ady@zen.co.uk

Cheers

Adrian

Little to far for me, its 20 miles away and I already have a drive to Leeds and back for work. Was looking for somewhere nearer.

Looks like a year off the areas!

I'm glad someone round here has got you playing. Seemed like too good an offer at this time of year. . .

Yes, it's great you have found a suitable seat Stell. I'm sure you'll be happy at Linthwaite. I think they're just what you're looking for and vice versa - Bass players are like hens teeth these days, We are much sought after, but it's nice if we find a "Berth" that suits us.
I know Mr Butler has disappeared off the banding radar, but, as his best banding mate, I know he would want me to keep an eye on you !!

Enjoy your banding.

I turned up to there rehearsal a couple of weeks ago and they had no bass for me after I got in contacted with them and were expecting me there.

That is really inconsiderate, a complete waste of your time. They expected you, but didn't even bother to sort out an instrument - I'm not surprised some bands can't fill the chairs !!

Sometimes well meaning people lend instruments out to other bands/players...... Maybe it was a small breakdown in communication?

I have appologised to Stella over the mix up. It was the first rehearsal back after Christmas and the bass case was sat in the library, however another band member had borrowed it when busking before Christmas but had not taken the case. On all other occasions all our instruments are in their cases so it was highly unexpected! The next week we had a Sovereign bass sat waiting for her.

If Stella wishes to give us another go then excellent however if not, we wish her well in finding a new band.

Hope you don't mind me saying this, Stella, but you seem to be being rather picky about this. Firstly by expecting bands to come chasing you (you wouldn't treat job applications that way, would you?), and secondly by writing off bands for weak reasons (e.g. the Golcar mix-up above, or by ignoring bands above a certain standard, or by not being willing to travel even 20 miles - or by not considering switching instrument, I suppose too). If you were really that keen to join a band, you'd have been in one long ago.

Perhaps it would help you get somewhere you want to go if you relaxed your criteria a little.

No Dave I disagree with you, I cannot play above third because I would need to practise to get to that standard. We are not all that gifted. In my opinion I'm not a 2nd section bass player without practise. I know my standard. I'm unwilling to travel far because I already travel 1hr each way to work and don't get back till 7. I don't fancy a long drive then to band, plus sites visits. I can't play Bb, I did once and I cannot play it, its not the same, dispite what people think. Any smaller I cannot play. I'm suited to Eb. I've only been in Huddersfield 2 months, having been in Leeds before and had a few personal problems. Only just decided after christmas to get back into it. I've chased 2 bands in the area, one a higher section, not got back to me.

Anyway, I have found a band.

Are my reasons ok with everyone?

Does it matter Really Stella if nobody agrees with your reasons? They are after all your reasons. You know your own playing and Its up to you about the criteria that you set.

My reasons would be different to yours for example :

I too would not see myself as able to Dep or Play for any band higher that 3rd. Just not that good enough. Similarly I cant play certain instruments.

However straight after Christmas, wth what was quite a fair explanation (If it was given like that to you at the time) I just might have been prepared to give the band another go if it was me; but again surely that is your personal choice.

You need to be happy wherever you are playing and thats the most important thing for me.

Good luck with your new Band.

Hey Stella, glad to hear you've got somewhere now - that's the important thing, after all! Was just concerned that you might have been inadvertently preventing yourself from having a fun experience somewhere, but no matter now.
