Saturday the 3rd of October saw Grange Moor Band present their first patrons concert at St Pauls Church in Mirfield. The evening featured guest soloist Stephen Wilkinson, principal cornet of the Brighouse and Rastrick Band. Michael Howley conducted a challenging programme featuring several arrangements by Leigh Baker, including Lionel Richie's 'All Night Long', 'Eventide' and 'Deep Harmony' which was well received by the audience. Stephen dazzled the audience with solos including 'Tucker', 'Glorious Ventures', 'The Watermill' and 'Far More Than I Deserve'.
The patron scheme was introduced a year ago with the aim of encouraging the local community to support the band, including helping the Grange Moor concert band to develop and teach younger players.
