You;re right, it is definitely "Heart" of oak though, even in it's original guise - something about Greek mythology I believe - but singing "hearts" is as common a mistake as people singing "Britannia
rules the waves" when in actuality it's a command, so is "Britannia
rule the waves."
(PS - the second line is actually "Jolly tars are our men."
