The words are: "Heart of oak are our ships, heart of oak our our men" - and it is the regimental march of the Royal Navy -http://www.royalmarinesbands.co.uk/r...ousmarches.htm

Another march could be Preobrajensky by Donajowsky - Regimental Slow March of the Royal Marines

Once A Marine.... by Ray Woodfield I think

And not exactly naval / sea themed, but Portsmouth themed - Portsmouth Chimes dunno who wrote the march but it's good (and Portsmouth is practically the home of the Royal Navy so still kind of related lol)

"Portsmouth Chimes" was written by Stanley Smith Masters (1903 - 1984) he wrote under the pseudonym : EDRICH SIEBERT.

The song's a lot older than the concept of a regimental march though. Don't forget, what has later become the regimental march of many an armed unit started out as a simple song popular amongst the men. ("Over the hills and far away" for the rifles, for example.) I seem to recall 'Heart of Oak' was originally operatic? (Could be wrong though....)

You;re right, it is definitely "Heart" of oak though, even in it's original guise - something about Greek mythology I believe - but singing "hearts" is as common a mistake as people singing "Britannia rules the waves" when in actuality it's a command, so is "Britannia rule the waves."

(PS - the second line is actually "Jolly tars are our men." )
