New players for Ireland Colliery before the finals and defending our Bolsover title for the 3rd year running
Ireland Colliery Chesterfield band are pleased to announce the arrival of 4 new players to the ranks before the national finals in September and also defending the 4th section entertainment title at Bolsover for the 3rd year running.
We would like to welcome David Heiland on to the solo cornet line from Barnsley Chronicle also Karen Wright who is joining the band from Rockingham Brass on Rep. Both players bring experience to the band and have fitted in well in the short time they have been with us.
Also signing with the band is Gill Quick on Bb Bass who was one of the co- founders of Ireland colliery band many years ago. Gill joins us from Holymoorside band where she will keep playing as they do not contest and will be cover for our Bb bass players due to work and family commitments.
Another new signing is the young Kelsey Squires 11 year old, who joins her Dad, Mum, 2 brothers and Uncle who already play with the band. Kelsey will be also part of the new ICCB training band which starts up in September which is led by her dad Martin.
Commenting on the signings MD Ian Knapton said “it’s great to see these new signings come into the band we have a very strong and committed team and we look forward to representing the midlands at the nationals in September. We also will be working hard to defend our title at Bolsover for the 3rd year running. We are currently on a 5 week break at the moment but I know when the band are back in the band room we will be working hard for the contest season and the 3rd section in 2013”
