? for experts on older Besson Sovereign 992 BBb's

Hello, I recently pressed my Besson Sovereign BBb (Model 992) back into service after
minor repair work. The serial reads 992-720XXX. I'm guessing that it dates from the
mid 1980's (the brown plastic case and engraving indicates this, to me at least).
It plays super, even the top end. I am a professional orchestral player mostly using
CC and F, but I love playing this tuba when I get the opportunity.
Question - Is there a "golden age" for these 992 BBb's? I have played many Bessons
over the years and they vary. My EEb Sovereign plays well and comes from the same vintage.

Most 992's are good, especially compared to later models, in my experience. They weren't actually made that long, early 80's then replaced in 88-89?
