When over half the posts are off topic, it might be wise to realise the Belgian has a keener insight than you do (if you thought the discussion was serious).

Otherwise, I'd think it were fine if both that thread and this were moved to Random and Off Topic (as that's a bit what they are).

Unfortunately, it has become more and more noticeable that the more serious posters don't bother any more, either to start new threads or to participate in existing ones, due to the efforts of those who I can only describe as trolls, whose one aim in life appears to be to insult or belittle others. Why they bother to join a discussion forum, I can't imagine, unless it's to while away the time between lessons.

That this thread was started is a prime example. When it comes to exercising any sort of control on this site, it is actually the opinion of the owner and the moderators that counts. This is a subject has been aired on numerous occasions, so I won't labour the point.
