Noooooooooooo.... we normally rehearse once a week but we went twice a week for six weeks before the performance. Just the week before the contest we rehearsed four nights in one week. I have heard all these rumours that we rehearsed non stop but I think it's because we kept changing the second night rehearsal, so one week it was on a Monday and the next week it was on a Tuesday and the next week Wednesday, then back to Monday etc. So it seemed like we were having zillions of rehearsals, but really just an hour and a half extra each week for six weeks (and a little bit of intense rehearsal at the end).
It seems to work for us anyway!![]()

Happy with the result yesterday - did what we needed to to stay up. Had better days in terms of the performance (personally speaking), but listening back it sounded pretty good as a whole, and lots to build on with our new MD. I have to admit I did not go and watch any bands apart from the last one (Clacton) as I was pretty much English-Heritaged out by the end of our rehearsal schedule!!
So here's to another year in the Championship section![]()
Also, well done to Becontree on winning the 2nd section, and to Tilbury for getting the result they needed too.

Well done to everyone over the weekend and to David Hobbs and his team for their hard work.
Played in the second section and thought the standard was overall quite good, congratulations to the first 3 excellent performances.
Stayed to listen to the elite and have to confess that English Heritage was hard listening to at times ..sorry
Particular well done to the following on excellent results:-

Thanks for these messages....we were v happy with the result, but like most bands, didnt play as well as we could have...shame, could have been an amazing result if it had been one place higher!!
Well done Phil, thought you deserved it - after a scrappy first half, it turned into something really very good. Liked the bell!
Thanks Dave,
Yes, half good half scrappy...it was all sounding like the back half...but thats the pressure of contesting, plus having quite a few contest first timers on stage..(young ones too)..!
I thought It needed a proper bell, fitted the music really well, came from Graham Palmer, apparetnly it was worth £3000...
Retro is now up on 4br , under the "Articles" Section .
