What about the Repiano/Flugel?? Am I correct in thinking that it is a "duplicate" part for both of then to play with just a few bars for the flugel to play on its own?? Or as someone said to me, there is NO flugel part-just 2 or 3 bars?I would assume that they both play the same part as in a lot of pieces.
I am pleased we have a classic to attaempt though, I must admit!

    I agree.

I think the third section are privileged to be given this piece to have a crack at. The first seriously piece composed for brass bands and certainly the first original composition for the National Contest.

It will be a memorable test piece. The last couple of years have been exceptional with recently composed and quite contrasting pieces Dark Side of the Moon and Once and Future King.

Labour and Love is a further contrast and it might make us think about the history that is steeped in banding.

I too will go with that! Certainly looking forward to working with Whitworth on this piece.

It's a nice sop part. Not too exposed, but some little bits on top of the Solo Cornets and a tiny bit of a solo at one point if I remember correctly.

Something for everyone. No time for nerves here. All soloists need to stand up and be counted. Solo Trom Specifically exposed.

It's fantastic. All the times I've though "this would sound much better if everyone else just shut up and let me bang it out on my own" and finally I've found a piece written by a kindred soul.
