Perfect Salvation Army Playlist

Quite Simple Really Just investigating what people would have as their perfect playlist if they were to do a concert. Just a little bit of fun kinda' thread. Just a quick guideline: It would be nice to also see a congregational song, and prehaps some pieces which are not army pieces

You can probably tell from my program that I've been out of the SA for the last 16 years and my knowledge of current repertoire is dodgy at best. Nevertheless, it's tough to beat composers like Heaton, Broughton, Calvert, Rive, Bowen, Leidzen, etc.

Kevin Metcalf has just recorded Pleasure In His Service with the CSB; new CD entitled Festivity is due out soon.

I too like the selection made by David.

I've always enjoyed Dean Goffin's cornet solo Victorious and My Strength, My Tower.

I would include The Call of the Righteous or Festivity (Leslie Condon); The Dawning (Peter Graham); The Lord is King (R. S-A.); and one of the old marches - perhaps Sons of the Army.

I think my "ideal" program would become less than ideal because it would need three intermissions at least and would last about 10 hours

No Condon or Ball, though. As much as I like Bowen and Broughton, I'd only include one from each.

I'd include The Call of the Righteous and either The Triumph of Peace or The Kingdom Triumphant.

And maybe something from Kenneth Downie - any of the devotional items, which are just simply beautiful in terms of both musicality and impact.

Good to see Marshall getting a look in there bbg ! I'd kick off with his march "Mighty to Save" me , and I'd throw in some Bearcroft along the line , either "Better World" or "Timepiece". Also another vote for "My Comfort and Strength" !!
Redhead's "Quintessence" would be in there as well for me. As for a congregational song , we'd have Bearcroft's "Shout Aloud Salvation" with massed songster brigades. We'll have the gig at the RAH and BM Clack can also accompany a song or two on the organ.
As with John Brooks , my full programme listing would be several hours long but the encore would be Enfield doing "The Red Shield" !!!
