It was a great experiance for me personally to go into a band where lots of the note bashing had been done, I was able to relax and enjoy working on the music. Stape band really deserved their result, they worked really hard and it was a pleasure to be "in the middle" on stage, things just bobbed along great.
So thanks to Mike (MD) for asking me, and all the team for getting stuck in and giving a great show!
See you all soon

I think we're under the impression that as there's only currently 10 bands in the section, only 1 will get promoted, that band being Easington. At least thats what we're hoping, the chances of us staying down on appeal again are pretty slim....Originally Posted by michellegarbutt
You're right Colin. I was thinking it was less than 10 only 1 was promoted but when I've checked the rules you need 11 for 2 to be promoted so only Easington will get promoted but 2 will still get demoted as there is a tie for last place. Apologies to anyone in Westoe and Felling who thought they'd been promoted based on my info

I'm sure the members of Westoe Band will be breathing a huge sigh of relief after learning that.
I thought the weekend was a bit of a disappointment, I wasn't playing for the first time in years and it was interesting to see things from joe publics point of view. I thought the whole weekend was a bit flat, didn't seem to be any atmosphere at all, small crowds, **** surroundings and two trade stands...just didn't seem as good as other years.
On the playing side I heard some good bands, congrats to all the qualifiers including Stape who I thought gave a very musical performance and deserved to qualify. I thought BHK Horden played well in the top section and it was only there sound (not as big as the top 3) I think that made them miss out for a higher place.
As for the first section well done to Colin and Westoe, althought I didn't have them above Ellington but then again I wasn't in the box and i'm bias...Well done Elington with a good performance to secure 1st section status.

Finally well done to Cheryl and Ashington for qualifing in the 2nd section, after hearing the bands it was perhaps the easiest contest to ever place the bands I've heard, but nevertheless they played well. Plus seeing Cheryl in the bar afterwards was worth the admission fee alone..."i'm not drunk, your drunk...you're all drunk" - classic!![]()
Sadly, I never get to see much, not playing until 6:30 on Sunday meant that we were rehearsing before and then it was time for a swift couple of gallons then back on the bus for 2 and a half hours back home.Originally Posted by Andy_Euph

I really dont want to sound like an ****hole, but I KNEW our whispers were going to sound pants on the day.
I apologise, but I had to get that off my chest.
Not so free agent
Just a quick point (perhaps highlighting a good bit of journalism!!!)
I put a post up at about 6:30 pm notifying users that the 4BR retros were online and by midnight, only on post had appeared to comment!!!
Can we assume from this that 4BR have got it right and no-one has a gripe? (see Yorkshire thread for details)
I for one think it's pretty much on the mark (so far as the championship section goes)

Yep, got it about right for us a East Riding. The perc player who dropped the sticks stepped in with 10 days to go. So we were just pleased to have him!Originally Posted by michellegarbutt
