Nice to see that the organisers of the Spring Festival and Open are seeking comments on the contest here
Was watching George Clarke's Small Spaces programme last night were used underground tube carriages were used as office space - only cost £100 from Transport for London ( a bit more to load and...
Any ideas on where is the official announcement to be made? Kapitol website is not known for up to date information; is this meant to be in BBW or The Bandsman?
Interesting to see that the first people to be involved with the new BBP Advisory Panel/Body/Forum is in fact a contest organiser (Butlin's) - a registry for the players run by the players?
Just Music are featuring a number or Peter Graham new pieces on their newly launched website (1/05/13)
I'll have a chat with an old KSB player who may recall that - however it's a new name to me as the only conductors I'm aware of were George Burnham from formation to his death in the 40s followed by...
As well as Sleep there is also Lux Arumque and Seal Lullaby (shameless plug for our band video of this)
5 out of 70 (its listed on the link page)
Are you including within the "number of people in bands" - those that are registered? I think BBBR had something in the region of 16,000 add Wales 1,300 and Scotland 1,500 - total number of...
Sorry to mention he who must not be named (not Sonorous) but Bernaerts arrangements of almost anything are thinly scored enough to easily get away with a 10 piece - we've used them with a 6 piece set...
Also "can we squash that nonsense about the mandate being from compulsory membership?" ?
Anyone feel this is rather soft response to what is clearly a serious attempt to beef up BBE? BBE response
Must be all them southern bands - I'm struggling to find another 58 non-registered bands in Yorkshire
and the point is? I was referring to a local and specific area - Yorkshire only have a total of 60 contesting bands but I was giving you a comparison of one areas contesting to non-registered bands...
Maybe it's different in the London and South East but I know most of the bands in South Yorkshire as follows:
Championship - Grimethorpe, Unite The Union
1st Section - Barnsley Chronicle,...
Apologies if I've misunderstood what you wrote - on the one hand I thought you were advocating a National body but on the other suggested that a similar one to the Scottish and Welsh wouldn't work...
So Making Music (a national body) is ok but not a National body for English brass bands similar to the Scottish or Welsh ones?
That's one view point (which is clearly yours) however there already exist two areas with 100% membership of the contesting bands to separate Associations - in Scotland and Wales. The compulsory...
Those figures quoted above "£12 per player per year" were mentioned by numerous people who expressed concerns over future costs of the new registry but I could never pin down where it came from or...
Does anyone know who came up with this idea? Or was this 4barsrest own idea?
Editorial ~ 2008: October15-Oct-2008This month we give our opinions on Nationalising the Registry,...
Nationalise the...
Or why not run it from a single location?
and just a reminder of what Philip Morris said regarding bands entering on BBBR cards
"Stand firm
He continued: "Those without BBP registration cards issued before the 2013 Regional...
Can beat a good rumour for some good speculation - why let facts spoil a discussion as our long gone friend Sony would say - "You want answers? I want the truth!"
I note we are commenting initially on a rumour however abstracted from the National Rules
Contest Management
Kapitol shall manage the National Finals and each Regional Committee shall manage...
