Brings a whole new meaning to "sheet music"...
What an ace weekend :D
Well done to those that turned up. It's still my favourite banding event of the year.
Came last! Didn't think we played that badly, but I enjoyed our performance and it's...
I'll be setting off from Nottingham after work tomorrow - crossing my fingers that the snow isn't too bad.
Anyone heading from the west of the country should definitely set off early if they can -...
Having played through it quite a bit - and performed it at a contest - I really like it. It won't win any prizes for originality, but there's some nice moments in there, especially in the slow...
Carlton Brass also did Ad Undas and came a disappointing 14th. Thought we made some nice sounds but had too many little mistakes.
Enjoyed the contest though - very well run event and a nice venue...
Wow, ten years already?
I think that tMP is an immensely important aspect of the banding community. Thanks for keeping it going John - it IS much appreciated :)
'ow do! I'm guessing you're the same David Morris I'm following on Twitter (other social networks are available)?
Welcome to tMP :)
Great piece and certainly playable by a good 4th section band. Lots of percussion too
Guessing. Lots of bands struggling for players in all sections so who knows who's still going to be around in five years #pessimist
It would probably make more sense to promote more up from the 3rd to second and 4th to third than try and relegate more bands down from the 1st. 18 seems like a fairly "normal" size for a large area...
Hope our battles in the first section continue for many a musical year :)
Huge congrats to the Long Eaton crew Shaz - another great result for you :)
Special congrats to my friends down at Ibstock, who've not had the best of luck over the last few years but have a trip...
Have you looked at the Brass Band Results website? Tim's been doing some updating from as far back as the 1906:

I think it's going to be pot-luck if...
Hi Adam,
I think the venue is more than adequate for a smallish contest but will struggle if more bands turn up. The social area isn't too bad a size but perhaps they needed an extra barperson or...
I would tend to agree with Andy. Perhaps the cure is worse than the disease?
What Steve says. The NEMBBA committee have always run this contest well and the new venue is an improvement.
Also: curses!
Bakewell first, Matlock second. The other two withdrew. Bakewell won a couple of the individual prizes too but I can't remember which, sorry.
I saw the MD of Long Eaton (Sharon Stansfield)...
Carlton Brass were conducted by Geoff Hawley.
Well done Jacko and the Leicester Co-op crew. A fantastic result and a well deserved win. We'll have to get you back at the area ;)
If someone from the NEMBBA committee reads this thread then please feel free to get in touch. It's a simple job to set up a free site using a blogging platform like Wordpress or something, and this...
Websites are wonderful for keeping people informed Brian. Letting band secretaries know about these things is fine but that information tends not to get widely disseminated. How do you let the...
It would be helpful if NEMBBA had a website. Details for their contests are always difficult to find and you can do it for free these days.
Yes, there are quite a few trap-doors for unwary bands. It's quite a blow, though. Should be a winner for those bands with a bigger, rounder sound
Having played through Mountain Views a few times now, I can't help but think that this might just turn out to be a bit of a blastothon at the area. Lots of FFs and some FFFs too. Some nice music, but...
They may have had only 200 followers but they were directly replying to @4barsrest - so that they could see the abuse they were getting I suppose - and they were using the #Butlins2012 hashtag in...
