Journey into Freedom
.....and High peak was Butlins first section in 2012.
But 3rd and 4th sections.......why not :)
Deepcar band - usual nights are Monday and Friday 7.15 to 9.15
Training band meets at 6.15 to 7.15 on a Monday.
Just a suggestion, why not turn the question into a poll?
We got there at around 9.20pm and had about 9 or 10 bands in front. We waited just under an hour to March off and were back on the bus about 10.30pm. We didn't mind the wait as it would be our 7th...
Delph was our last one too......we weren't that far away from you - 72nd
I know how you feel!! In our case, we simply were not the best 4th section band at Lydgate on the day.......Wawrick Uni were (regardless of what the rules were, or are now), and to be honest, what...
Agreed all round. They did a great job, was a great advert for banding and looking at the Chris Evans Facebook page, it looks like it went down very well indeed!!!!
Why?
Hi - I hope someone on here can help me here.
Our band is looking to send a few groups off to some "ensemble" competitions this year. I have very little experience of small ensemble brass music -...

Hello,
Please can you change the title of our thread...
Deepcar Band, Yorkshire 4th section currently has the following vacancies:
Cornet - either front row or Repiano seat,
Bb Bass vacancy
Tenor horn vacancy
Deepcar itself is located...
There are too many inconsistencies in what Adjudicator say the want. One year, it's musical, the next it's accuracy to score. It needs to be one or the other every year, in all regions to give us a...
I agree with the 'mis-communication' Dave. But for the record I don't feel we struggled with the tempi that were marked (our recording is on soundcloud for all to hear so please feel free to...
In bits of it - yes.
Don't get me wrong though, do not under estimate how hard this piece is to get a good band performance out of.
:tup
We did too, We actually corrected them all last week, cos we'd fallen into the "too slow trap" especially in the first and third.
Be interesting to see what happens in other areas.
I...
Our sop player felt the same!! But when you get to it and play it, and it doesn't sit right, it has to be corrected!! It's very hard to balance the rehearsal on this piece IMO
PS - and i'm sure...
It makes players think.............about basic things like playing together well, playing in tune and making lovely sounds.
There is little to practice at home in it (in terms of note bashing)...
Glad i wasn't the only one who thought this. We worked hard to play to what was written, which we did on the day (as our comments last year were tempos too slow) to be told they were too fast this...
Sorry Jack - i was only winding Francis up a little with this comment (with my tongue firmly in my cheek).
PS - i do agree, that redistribution could be overdue (esp in some areas), either by...
Hope you're not suggesting rule changes to the regional qualifying contests...........
;)
As I said in the first part of my post above..... I completely agree with this. That's part of the challenge of contesting on this piece of music we have been given.
I don't see many using it as...
It still has to be played, and played correctly......and musically.......and well. Keeping the players motivated through the rehearsals is part of the challenge of the set piece IMHO.
Thankfully...
there is plenty in this to get right (and plenty to get wrong!!)
