Maybe because brass bands are supposed to be an 'amateur' organisation....not professional ;)
I was wondering if there was an 'abundance' of horn players.....and why that was. If you look at the recruitment on either here or 4barsrest, it's not very often that bands advertise for horn...
I can confirm, that even without your favourite bands, it is a very good contest and well worth going to listen to!
I've got one ;-)
Can I ask why you think it is insulting to the First Section?
I played on a sovereign for 25 years....loved them...then got persuaded to try a Yamaha. Wouldn't go back to sovereign now. Think the Yamaha is a far better quality instrument!
Take your point! But there are some bands who couldn't manage this years test piece....but based on the last 2 years area results have been promoted!!
Sorry...misread your post the first time!
No...that's not the case....my band is competing at the Finals this year....but won't be promoted based on average points 2 years ago and a bad...
It certainly did at this year's area!
And that's the point of my previous post.....bands have been promoted on the last 2 years results, when this year they struggled!!
Yes, you're right.....but that raises another issue of the '3 years points results'!!! A band that had 2 good years, could have deteriorated for this year, but still get promoted, even though the...
No they don't! First section bands should be given first section pieces for the area.....the Finals? that's a different matter.....Finals should be a challenge...to ensure the right first section...
No tuning issues....totally under control....well balanced....full sound
The adjudicator obviously preferred a faster, louder performance, despite tuning issues and a less balanced sound.
...
Because I listened to all 5 bands and there is no way Shepherds Band should have been placed 4th............
.......not just my opinion either ;)
[QUOTE=yorkie19;780658]What is?
First Section results!!??!!??
One word! SHOCKING!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Michael Buble :D
Currently?
CITIZEN ****** KANE!!!!!!!!
Personally I think for the Nationals....all the sections should be given a test piece usually set for the section above. That'll sort out the best bands
Nah! lol.....just pointing out that his band is going to beat us ;)
Anyway.....there are lots of other good 1st section bands and the 2 Yorkshire bands, although good bands....will have to play...
Tis true....for my sins ;)
Whoa!!!!!!
Lol! I certainly take it as jolly banter! Bit of rivalry never hurt......keeps the juices going! ;)
Looking forward to a good contest.....and on the performance Hammonds gave at the...
Well said Rich!
Mind you.....last time I played at the Finals.....I had a tantrum over Imps winning! Certainly won't this year! ;)

They could appeal against relegation...but the fact they didn't compete this year....doubt if it would be upheld!
