Back in January of this year, Roy Scott of Stotfold Salvation Army Band, celebrated 50 years of banding with a wonderful day (and evening concert) of celebration with fellow low brass players.

In addition, soloist Derrick Kane and the T4 Tuba Quartet joined the party, as did composer Tony Matthews who premiered ‘Tuba Train’ with Willson Euphonium Artist Charley Brighton.

With Roy’s consent, and the enthusiasm of Bandmaster Tim Parker, Charley brings the Tubalations day to Staines Salvation Army on October 2nd. This time with guest tuba star Les Neish.

The day is open to players of baritone, euphonium and tubas and will fellow a similar (and successful) pattern with an early morning registration prior to seating and reading through all the possible music to be featured in the evening concert.

Les will lead the massed group and will also feature in a masterclass during the day, alongside talks on the Alexander Technique for brass players (Jeannie Wood) and the mysteries of the compensating, enharmonic and 5 valve systems used on early euphoniums & tubas, given by Charley Brighton.

Several new works will be premiered with many of the young composers in attendance for the day, a great shop-window for their music.

The evening concert will feature the massed group with the Staines Salvation Army Band, and Les as soloist, with the whole event raising money for the Annual Appeal of the Salvation Army.

To enroll, please go to;
Brilliant sporting entertainment. Accurate passing, safe catching, good running, powerful scrummaging, quick ball out of the rucks. Fantastic stuff.

Martin Johnson was watching last night, I hope that he makes the men's team watch on Sunday, there's a lot they can learn from the ladies!! :clap: :tup
