    Welcome back!

Well... after much trouble and strife, and what seems an age - at long last we're back.

Sincere apologies to you all for the major outage, but you'll be pleased to know we are running on a new server, with new software and there will be no more security issues, or virus's for anyone - we're back, and we're clean.

    vB4
You will most likely notice that we are on a new version of the software that powers tMP, which is the very latest incarnation of vBulletin vB 4.1.5 - so you might have to take some time to familiarise yourselves with the controls and settings are etc... I am still working my way through it all and finding this out by the way!

If you have any issues, or if you you spot something that is missing from before or is currently not working well, please post this in the How-to forum, and we will do our best to fix it - though given the items we already have listed to fix, this might take a little time.

So, many thanks to you all for hanging in there, and my sincere apologies for the outage.

In bandrooms, at concerts and events all across the length and breadth of the country there are whispered conversations taking place.

These, together with all too frequent articles and features in the banding press and media, often suggest that banding is in decline. Discussions can be wide and varied: 'it’s just not the same anymore', 'we don’t get paid enough by the council", "we receive the same rate as 10 years ago', or even, ’there’s just no players about anywhere ...

    theMouthPiece.com presents for you a . .. . Copyright Issues Fact Sheet

What is this new Fact Sheet and Copyright FAQ information all about?

Many threads on theMouthPiece.com discuss the extremely complex subject of Copyright and its many related issues. It is all too apparent that many of us are confused by the governance and laws relating to copyright and the tMP Team felt that we should put together a new tMP Fact Sheet that is freely available to all tMP visitors and members which will hopefully, in plain English, help us understand some of the ins and outs of UK Copyright law. This FAQ and fact sheet has been compiled with the fantastic help and support of several tMP members who are:
    • Philip Sparke
    • Roger Thorne
    • Dave Payn
    • Peter Bale

... we are very grateful to each of them for their contribution to this FAQ information. Although the rules of Copyright seem complicated most infringements are done in ignorance rather than with intent. Some of the 'rules' may seem ridiculous from ...

We are going to continue to configure the latest software over the next few weeks but we felt it was looking ok enough for us to be able to relaunch tMP as it stands now. There are a list of items I need to continue to work on and set up, but if you do have any ideas or suggestions as to what else we could do, please shout and let me know.

The front page of tMP is now an inbuilt vBulletin CMS type of function which I have yet to configure in the way it will be finally, so my apologies if this changes. We are going to continue to work on this over time.

The menu system currently only has two items... so if you're in the forum and you want to get back to the very front - click the little 'house' looking icon at the very top-left just above the yellow notice.

Thanks to everyone for your understanding, and patience whilst we continue to recover. Shout in the 'How-to' section if there's anything you want to ask.

    Borrowed Players for Spring Festival

    Thread Starter: Sandy Smith

Please correct me if I am wrong but am I right in thinking that each band is allowed to contest with 4 players whose registrations are held by other bands, UK or foreign, at the Grand Shield ? Is this also the case for the Senior Cup and Trophy ? What are the general thoughts on this ? Why...

    Brass duets

    Thread Starter: daveredhead

Hi I am looking for a reasonably difficult trumpet duet, that we can play on two sops, so would prefer duet in top range with reasonable difficulty, if piano part is available then we could transpose the piano parts to suit sops . We are hoping to play at this years Summer School. To give an idea...

    Difficult to play cornet

    Thread Starter: TooLoud

I have a Besson Prestige cornet and although it makes a good sound, it is really hard to play. Intonation is really poor, my lips get sore very quickly and I struggle with high notes. I have played other cornets and they are much easier to play (both easier on the lips and don't need much...

However can anyone explain the logic of this rule?
