The name of Hans Nickel is probably not one that you have heard of.
He was born in Holland in 1958 and has been Principal Tuba of the West German Broadcasting Corporation Orchestra based in Cologne since 1986.
We've managed to get our han(d)s  on two CDs which feature him as tuba soloist.

On Tuba Obsessions (http://www.worldofbrass.com/acatalog/21309.html) he is accompanied by piano in works like Capriccio (Rodney Newton) and Sonata (William Schmidt).

On canTUBAllada (http://www.worldofbrass.com/acatalog/21310.html) Hans is accompanied by the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra and includes the only known recording on CD of the orchestral version of Edward Gregson's Tuba Concerto.

We hope that Hans will become a little more well-known by adding these recordings to our catalogue and so making them more widely available.

canTUBAllada (http://www.worldofbrass.com/acatalog/21310.html) has had a bit of a sales spurt in recent days due to some very favourable comments on an American tuba discussion site called TubeNet (http://forums.chisham.com/index.php).

The appearance of the site is similar to tMP mark 1 and I've noticed some tMPer's who are registered to TubeNet also.
