Nothing like being confident..but I don't think I'll feel so confident on Sunday.
Good Luck to everyone on Sunday.

flashbarry,

Just as a matter of interest, what did you base your third place prediction in the second section on?

..and if it's mystical powers, could you make it first please? :D

flashbarry
06.03.2003, 13:32
Hi Frisp,

Your wish is my command! I predict that you will come first in the second section and Wire and Silk will come behind you!!!

MMMM My Predictions for the Top Section 9 as im not farmiliar with the other sections)

1. Faireys
2. Fodens
3. Leyland
4. Wingates

PeterBale
07.03.2003, 12:34
I'm not normally one for making predictions, but I have a feeling that, not needing to qualify, Faireys may have too much on their plate, with the financial uncertainty etc, so here goes:

1. Leyland
2. Fodens
3. Faireys
4. Besses

Aidan
07.03.2003, 13:02
i do think the financial uncertainty has been abit overdone somewhat  they've only made a deal of it in the media to help find someone to sponsor the europeans. no-ones leaving and i doubt they will fold!!!

Glad to see you all think Pem will do well on Sunday - its about time we had some support!! Just don't expect too much, the test piece is *beep* , and we have Malcom Brownbill in the box so it could go to anybody!!

EDIT: Again, please refrain form using bad languange on theMouthPiece.com

I reckon the top section results will be dodgy as well, maybe not for the top bands but certainly the rest of 'em. Roy Roe is another who is partially deaf, except when it comes to slating the perc section!

Anyway heres my predictions:

Championship:

1. Fodens
2. Fairys
3. Leyland

1st Section:

1. Longridge
2. United Co - op Crewe
3. Could be anyone - maybe Pem! :?

2nd Section:

1. Wire Brass
2. Silk Brass
3. Old Hall Brass

3rd section:

1. Timperly
2. Diggle
3. Thornton Clevelys

4th Section:

1. Trinity Girls
2. Rivington and Adlington
3. Pemberton B Band

Hi Carina,

Hope the band are doing well, are you by any chance related to Brian Halliwell the super Horn!!!

Flash

Carina Halliwell
07.03.2003, 14:47
Indeed, indeed I am!! Hes my dad. But he aint plaing horn anymore. He had a stroke about 3 years ago and last year it started to affect his plaing so he had to give up :(

But hes making a comeback at the Senior Cup by playing 2nd cornet - just standing in for our usual 2nd cornet player who cant play for the contest.

Carina Halliwell
07.03.2003, 14:48
That should say playing not plaing!! hehe

Well done to everyone who qualified yesterday in Blackpool. The Manx had a good day and we will be looking forward to Dundee in September. Almost makes the ferry trips worthwhile. And yes it was a bit rough. Not good combined with a hangover. 8)

Thanks Flashbarry!
Darrol will have come across us a few times when he conducted Tyldesley.
I didn't hear Tyldesley at the areas but appparently they played really well.
I was wondering whether Darrol remembers me!
I was called Heather Young at that time(many years ago!). I played for Swinton when he and Gary Lord came down and I went out with Gary (eventually getting engaged!) for many years!
I used to come down to listen to Salford Brass when Darrol was there.
Please say 'hello' to him from me. Hope you're really enjoying yourself overseas.
All the best
Heather xx

Hi Heather,

He certainly does remember you and many happy concerts with Youth Town Brass and the conducting vicar!! How are you keeping? We are in Oman and Darrol is working as Composer/arranger in residence to the Royal Guard but he is still churning out his other stuff for bands so he said get buying some so we can come home to the cold and rain we can't get used to all this sun :D

We are coming home in June for Whit Friday so will probably see you there!!!

Hi Rachael,

I know this is completely off-topic, but did you manage to contact Marc Owen?

flashbarry
11.03.2003, 16:56
Hi Roger,

We haven't had chance yet because time is flying out here, our weekend is Thursday and Friday so before your nkow it its back to work again. We are also four hours in front of you so it is not always convenient to phone the UK when we have a spare moment. Darrol is going to contact him sometime this week. Do you know if Marc ever got his trombone concerto performed with Brett Baker? Darrol sends his best regards.

Rachael

Roger Thorne
11.03.2003, 17:36
Hi Rachael,

Yes, the first performace was at the prize giving concert last year and more recently both Marc and I attended a concert in Llangollen at which Black Dyke performed both his Trombone Concerto and my own arrangement of 'Zulu'. Quite a coincidence for both of us to have pieces on the same programme! I also believe that Dyke are producing a commercial recording of the Concerto, with Brett as soloist, later this year.
I'm sure Marc will give you all the details when you speak to him.
