While we were back in the UK on leave last year we met John Doyle at a Black Dyke recording session and he asked if I would be interested in writing him a new piece. I have written lot's of flugel solo's (originals and arrangements) so I thought I would write something different. The result was Concerto for Flugel Horn which exploits the different characteristics of the instrument.
