We're going!!
We're planning on improving on 2nd from last year!
Stockport will be there :)
I havent done this contest for a few years and I honestly dont remember doing it on that one occasion. Is there going to be a pub where everyone will be meeting for post performance celebrations/sorrow drowning or is it a case of just wander round town and fall into any old pub?
Hey Steve guess what!! I'm going to be getting to Tameside about 1.40, an hour and 20 mins before the rest of the band! If I can remember which end of the trombone to blow into you'll be very lucky!!!! :D
hehe... standing for soloy bits... hehe... oops!
Not doing rehearsal Sunday morning!!! Im shocked and dissapointed Mr Lynch. I may go straight there too cos Im playing in Nottingham for Ransomes on Sat night and it will be just as easy to keep heading north rather than back to Wilbarston.

awww u cumin to support stockport paul??? and ha i made u talk to me on monday so ur refusal to talk till after sunday failed mwhaaaa
no, I was talking to Matt... I may have been looking at you but I was talking to him...! :D
Anyway, support Stockport? I think not! I might watch and make inappropriate remarks about the female members of the band, but I wouldn't call that support!!
And Steve, if I wanted to go to the rehearsal I'd have to be on a train at 6am!! And then I'd just end up going straight back past my house on a coach the other way! At least this way I get to lie in till 12!
no, I was talking to Matt... I may have been looking at you but I was talking to him...! :D
how rude!!! i will get him to send me those incriminating photos of u on his fone!!!!

They are all female lynchie.......in one way or another!!
se u there!!!
They are all female lynchie.......in one way or another!!
hmmm... that sounds suspicious... I'll probably still grab myself a front row seat though! :D

had a rehearsal last night and despite the fact we only got the music out on saturday it wasnt sounding too bad.......we still wont get prizes i shouldnt think unless something strange happens on the day.
that's odd because yb2k have been practicing for months and... well...
Anyone know if Rochdale are going to be there? I fancy hearing them playing (Keppler - Closed adjudication contest - music choice deleted) , should be quite impressive!
Oh damn-we better start practising then I reckon!
Oh damn-we better start practising then I reckon!
dont practise on account of us [the horror] we dont sound that good infact its probably quite bad my ears are just used to it!
dont worry theres no risk we'd rehearse on anyone else's account, just our own, we play to do our best and have fun doing it, not purely to beat other people.
that's odd because yb2k have been practicing for months
I was a bit more worried that some people have been practising that long

Why?
Why?
Because surely boredom sets in after a few playings?
I know it does with me! I think bands (especially youth bands) peak with pieces,(ie start playin them well as a whole -not individuals and enjoyin it etc..)then they lose the enthusiasm 4 the piece!
I always worry bout playin pieces too much (hence the lack of personal practice!)-but shh dont tell any one cuz i dont think theyve noticed yet!

the adjudicator (Roy sparks i think) needs a hearing aid in my opinion, for he cannot tell the difference between a car horn and a trumpet/ cornet. i played a car horn in the 3rd bar of cartoon music by peter graham i think, and it says in the remarks for us that a trumpet/cornet (cant remember which it was) came in early in the 3rd bar!!! there is only me plays in the 3rd bar (i came in either on time or possibly slightly l8) and i am offended by being called a trumpet/cornet!!!

just heard about the remarks from my mum (which means they may be slightly biased), but I think there may have been a problem with where mr sparkes was seated; with regard to a trio: 'two excellent players cornet and euph'. This could be taken as a compliment by the two cornets as to their blending skills, but when it's in harmony...
definately something fishy going on.
Well Done Smithills and Chris Wormald!
well at one point in our remarks it did say "Good jazz break by Cornet and Trombone" only problem being it was a trio with a horn as well...

not that we're bitter or anything!
well done smithills though.
I know Roy Sparkes very well and would say that he certainly knows his stuff.
I understand what you're saying but i can only think this is an oversight in writing his remarks.
ah dopnt suppose it was too basd we were only practisin a week so im happy anyway and well done to pavey for winning best cornet!!!
ps it was nice to meet steve21 in the bar and lynchie u are still sacked although if i could remember why it wouldf be a good thingn :P
well after thursday you wont have a seat to sit in anyway... hehe!

eh?? mean if i havent neither will u haha!!! well done by the way for ur result im sure our cup mute was partly helping you?!
Yeah, must say thanks to the people att ssbb who gave me a cup mute! I hardly even noticed the dent... or the missing bit of cork...
Thanks all the same. And any extra damage you can blame Leisa!
A big congrats to Smithills and all the individual winners, personally a little disapointed with the result but the comments were good so......!
Thanks SSBB for the mute, was about as quiet as Lynchie got all day.
Anyone else have trouble getting home? Took us about 4/5 hours and ended up with half the band walking through the ditches by the M6 in the pouring rain as the toilet on the bus was broken.
Also, was nice to meet a few TMPers in the bar, I think that is possibly the first time members of any other youth band have spoken to someone from YB2K!!!

smithills percussion section had to borrow sticks!!! i was asked but my sticks were locked in the luggage compartment thingie of our coach n the driver couldnt be found, so i think they must have either borrowed ray paynes or my friend lionel (hes one of the green jackets!!)

untrue!!!! i speak to paul all the time :P :D it was nice to meet u!!
No, I meant on contest day. I thought it was now standard procedure for each band to dissapear in a different direction at places like Blackpool / Tameside etc rather than mingle in the bar. Glad to see thats not the case.
I think you're forgetting 2 things Steve...
1) Youth Bands are under 18 and
2) Youth Brass 2000 DO NOT condone under age drinking... no matter what country we're in! :D
Sorry, I accidentally put 'bar' instead of 'McDonalds'. Seriously though, a YB2K tour is one of the best forms of additional incomes most towns/cities/countries get. Look at Belgium, we go there for two days and by the time we leave everyone has got new cars, houses, clothes but no beer.

ooo it is with some i agree i tend not to prejudice against paul though its not his fault hehe :P thats silly though cos on sunday i was sat with 1 member of my band and about 6 members of YB2k macdonalds was bril though!! :)
macdonalds was bril though!! :)
except I only realised they had a guinness tap as I was leaving...
ummm... for "guinness" read "mcflurry" :D
