Alfred & Antoinette Galea writing from the islands of Malta & Gozo:

For the period 12th to 18th August 2007 the St Stythians Brass Band from Cornwall UK has visited Malta for a 7 day tour. During such tour the band, conducted by Mr. Derek Johnston, participated during the village festa of Santa Marija in the village of Mqabba. The band also performed a concert in the village of Marsascala and on the last day of the tour, Friday 17th August, the Band visited the sister island of Gozo where they performed concert in the village of Ghajnsielem in occasion of the Our Lady of Loreto Festa Week. For St Stythians Brass Band this has been a Fantastic experience, especially the 4 days participation in the village Festa of Santa Marija in Mqabba, and the participation in the Ghajnsielem, Gozo Festa.

In Malta and Gozo we have been the persons who took care of all the logistics regarding band concerts and round Malta & Gozo fun tours during the week. This was our third fantastic experience with a UK Band in Malta. The first one was in 2005 with the Bedford Town Band (Bedfordshire). Second and third was with 2 bands from Cornwall, the St Keverne Band (2006) and St Stythians Brass Band (2007). All this has been done voluntarily by ourselves ......... our payment for all this work is getting a huge satisfaction feedback from the bands that we help visiting Malta.

The St Stythians Band left Malta yesterday (18th August) with a huge sense of satisfaction. All the members and supporters left the departure lounge of Malta International Airport thanking me and my wife Antoinette for the Fantastic time they spent in Malta & Gozo ........ and for us that is the great payment we want for our work ....... for us that is much more important than all the money one should get for his work. We love our country Malta, and our goal behind all our work is giving to all those who visit us all what our small islands (Malta & Gozo) could offer.

We are now thinking of continuing our work with more bands from the UK - should there be any band interested, we invite you to write an email or call us: Our contacts are: email - alfgalea@maltanet.net (alfgalea@maltanet.net) telephones: 00356 21647985 (home) or 00356 99800997 (mobile).

We send our best regards to all, hoping that we get a good feedback from some band/s

Malta was a magnificent trip, the band was well looked after, and after each contest a magnificent spread of maltese food and ale was put on for the players and supporters...highly reccomended to any band looking for a holiday destination next year!
