Don't know if this has been asked before.. but how has tMP changed your life... not so much the big things, like changing bands, meeting new people, playing in tMP Brass, learning more about bands... but the little things...

For example...

I no longer do the Metro crossword in my lunch break, i'm to busy reading what's going on on here :)

I used to have a life. Now I have tMP..

Hang on.. I usen't have a life.. Now I have tMP filling the place of the life I usen't have..

no, that's not right either..

I may or may not have had a life at one stage, but tMP has made me forget whether I had or not!

yay!

Oh tMP hasn't changed my life much...

I no longer do as much uni work as i should...
I've met loads of new people...
I've never spent so much time at a damn computer...
I've learnt the odd thing or too...

I have no life!!!
But who needs a life when you have tMP?? :D :D

Here's to plenty more tMP birthday's...

Have met lots of new people, shared wham bars with some of them and embarassed myself in front of a fair few of them!
Now seem to spend any free time (of which I have quite a lot) on the internet instead of watching rubbish tv.
Have shared many conversations with people I've never met about things that are quite strange.

cool.

and have a new item of clothing in my wardrobe!

Well, I no longer get as much done at work as I used (shhh, don't tell)

I've learned lots of nifty stuff about language and odd facts and

am slowly learning about the people, bands, literature, contests, culture and tradition that is British Brass Banding.

and lastly I've learned that there are more similarities between bandspeople across cultures than there are differences, which can be a really scary thought.

Well....

I can safely insult my MD without most of the band knowing what I'm on about...

Met lots of new people

Survived Ravenswood despite the split notes (but had to drive SM home...)

Do precious little studying now

But have much more fun!

I'm always on the computer and the internet now! I hardly ever watch TV or anything like that anymore, and I'm always shattered in the morning and can't get up 'coz I've been on here until 12:30!!!! But I don't mind, it's a wicked site!!!!!!

Well I now don't do any work at college. I hardly ever used to use the computer except to check my e-mails, and now I'm on it pretty much every day.
But i have met lots of new people, some which have become very good friends and it has helped with my playing too.
Thanks John :D

I will agree with all of you.
I used to sit and watch interesting TV programmes and sometimes even go out but now I spend most of my time catching up with the thoughts of the rest of tMPers. :D
You do give some of the most enlightening comments and many of my fellow banders mull these over in the pub after rehearsal. There are some great characters on the site and the photos - well, what more can I say!
Wouldn't it be great if we could all meet up and chat?
I know how much more complete my life is having friends out there.

I got off my bottom and set about joining a band again after 10 years!
Sadly though, only 1 other member of my new band is a tMP'er and he doesn't go to the pub cos they have to relieve their baby-sitter. So I don't get anyone to mull over the week's weirdness with.

I've tried, I bullied them for sponsorship but I think their all BB'ers at heart...

I'm certainly on my computer alot more!
Also get loads less housework done!
Late nights - early mornings!
Get to know loads of interesting stuff from a bandsmans point of view!
Spend loads of time on MSN talking to my new best friend, Flashbarry who I met on here. Had a great few days earlier in the year when she came to stay with me and can't wait to share my news with her!
All thanks to TMP!

Thank you TheMusicMan. I'm right behind you on that one. My kids get enough of these types of comments from school from non-musical, non-talented, mean minded kids :( without seeing them here too!

I know this is an old thread but its an interesting one!!

How's tMP changed my life!!
My divorce papers will be coming through very soon!! JOKE!!

No, seriously..

I don't watch as much rubbish TV (from 1 square box to another!!)
I've met LOTS of interesting people, both on here & one or two in the flesh!
It's helped me realise that nearly all bands have exactly the same problems as my own.
tMP helped me to not go mad when I had 6 1/2 weeks off work:wink:
It hosts my band's website

TMM - you're a genius!

Well found Kaz.

It's been a good place to meet people, I met a few tMPers on a recent visit to Manchester (thanx Naruco) also, any problems, a solution can almost always be found here. Pretty much the same as what Karen has said above.

On a slightly serious note, tMP has helped restore my sanity during a particularly trying time, I love you all, (especially HBB) and no matter what, I will keep posting on tMP.

Thanx to Jessop-Smythe for pointing it out to me and thanx to John for setting it all up in the first place.

tMP has helped make my move here...actually...enjoyable :D

I know I may complain about work more than I should, but if I didn't have banding in this country, I probably wouldn't be having any fun.

I used to like work, and hopefully I will again when I get home :(

Well, I spend a lot more time on my computer than I used to do.

Far more importantly, I have met a lot of really nice people, both virtually and some later in reality, and it was through TMP that I joined Flixton Band, which was the best thing I had done in a long time.

Its also been informative and educational, about trombone playing, banding, contesting, and many other things besides!

Thank you The MusicMan!!!

i spend far too much time on the computer...
what little social life i had before has dissolved into nothingness... coz i'm always on the computer...

i've met loadsa lovely people on here (and one in reality... bless ya will!!! heres to a few more meets when i can drive!!!) and learned a lot about banding.

its helped me realise that so many people share the same hobby as me and it feels great!!!

it lets me rant about things i wouldnt normally rant about otherwise :P

yes, tmp is like an on line information and advice centre too! Its certainly helped me make some decisions about my life like taking the plunge to go self employed after some health problems and also very recently write a couple of essays for my music diploma.......... I found out on Sat 14th that i passed with honours:biggrin:
I have also met some lovely people on and off the computer!

Also when I was mad enough to take on a ladies choir........ with absolutely no experience members of tmp pointed me in the right direction and ..so far so good!

thank you one and all

If it wasn't for tMP I wouldn't be conducting a band and driving them nuts!
I spend far too much time in front of my PC but at least I'm not playing games on it anymore!!
Looking forward to meeting some people if we ever have a tMP Scotland social!! (Hint, Hint!!)

Well done indeed Shaz!

I fancy the idea of a Scotland Social, although the reason I'm no longer in Scotland might have something small to do with tMP...

I'm looking forward to meeting more tMPers at the next event that I can attend. Maybe one day we'll get you all over to this island!!!
