Good full sound and confident opening. Quavers not together in ensemble. Good crescendo from lower brass - in fact good dynamic levels throughout. Nice bass sounds but not in tune. Excellent horn solo, with some good accompaniment. Trombone takes over confidentely. Solo cornet has excellent sound and plays with confidence. Big sounds throughout here but intonation suffers to close of movement.
Again, good solo cornet and trombone to open movement. Nice sounds and good balance to 'fanfare'. Excellent semiquavers in bottom lines. Horns suffer the odd tuning problem. Good sense of style evident and MD controls band well to closing bars. Good last chord. Well Done.

We have offered our opinion of the bands performance based on the music, and on what we hear; and not on the technicalities of notes and other musical markings in the score etc.

Please don't be offended if you don't agree with what we write. This will simply be a combination of a report of our opinions on how we felt the performance went on the day, and of what's happening at the contest.

Please feel free to add your comments and your scores based on what you heard but please remember to keep these constructive and within the spirit of tMP and our guidelines. :)

PLEASE tell your Sop player to keep his chin up - the poor guy was SO upset after his solo in the test piece. IT was not nearly as bad as he obviously felt it was. I felt for him!

Well done for keeping going, sop may be a small instrument in size but its a big instrument in stature and takes a special kind of player to play it - you'll be back, young sir, and be all the better for today's little moment.

Good luck!

Agree,
Sop sounded good, couldn't have been easy with broken foot up on Cornet case.
Good to see Rhodri on Bass for once - how's the lip m8?

mm, think it was the rep player with the broken foot Huw as the sop player stood at the end with the rest of the band but the rep didn't.
Well done on your win!

P.S. the buttons on the Upper Rhonda website are not working - you can't view anything but the home page.
