Good opening from percussion and bass end. Cornets intonation distracts. Solo Cornet has nice sound and plays with confidence. The odd blip from horn doesn't affect the performance although the snare does!! The music is very discriptive and the band are showing this in the performance. The odd blip here and there into the flugel and Euph duet which is played well. Again solo cornet plays with confidence. Excellent crescendo and Wow! what a sound for such a young band. Well controlled dynamics and the band is playing really well here. Cornets lower register - tuning. Whoops! who dropped the drumsticks!! Good playing to close of movement.

Lovely horn solo with some lyrical playing. Good accompaniment from the ensemble ensure the music flows along. Side drum a litte overpowering, and a few blips here and there. DS again very lyrical, with some good glock/triangle playing. Overall a good movement which was well controlled by MD.

Good full sounds to start movement, and the band seem to be enjoying the music. Again good horn playing with excellent accompaniment. Well done basses! Again the odd blip here and there but it doesn't detract from the overall sounds. A very good performance from a relatively young band. Well done.

We have offered our opinion of the bands performance based on the music, and on what we hear; and not on the technicalities of notes and other musical markings in the score etc.

Please don't be offended if you don't agree with what we write. This will simply be a combination of a report of our opinions on how we felt the performance went on the day, and of what's happening at the contest.

Please feel free to add your comments and your scores based on what you heard but please remember to keep these constructive and within the spirit of tMP and our guidelines. :)

I thought your little percussionist was a STAR!! How brave of her to start the whole of the piece. Well done!

I won't vote, as it would be biased lol....

Thanks for the comments Huw! Congrats to Bream once again - keep up the great work you're doing there - the band was so friendly when I came down and helped you out for Weston - must be 3 years ago - good luck to you in the future!....

Yes Kiz - our percussionist, Lowri, is brill! She's 10 years old I believe! Such confidence for such a young player!

And in your comments, it was a cornet mute that dropped (not percussion sticks) lol.... Thanks for your comments - this will surely help to increase morale after a disappointed 10th (last) place.

Thanks very much for a great day and excellent coverage!
