A very good opening with a lovely bass sound. Trombone intonation suspect! Good flowing melodies from the cornets. Excellent ensemble playing throughout and good use of dynamics. Trombone and Baritone play well with good bass accompaniment. Loose Side drum snare distracts. Good crescendos and full sounds, horns suffer tuning in upper registers. Fortissimo sounds too harsh and not in keeping with the music. Good control in to cornet solo. Excellent ensemble work here but the odd blip does detract from the performance. Good rythmical quavers from back row cornets, and a lovely flugel solo - well done. Trombones ff not in character with the music, but overall some good sounds. Excellent warm sound to ending, and a good balanced end chord.

We have offered our opinion of the bands performance based on the music, and on what we hear; and not on the technicalities of notes and other musical markings in the score etc.

Please don't be offended if you don't agree with what we write. This will simply be a combination of a report of our opinions on how we felt the performance went on the day, and of what's happening at the contest.

Please feel free to add your comments and your scores based on what you heard but please remember to keep these constructive and within the spirit of tMP and our guidelines. :)
