Good confident start, and in tune!! well done. Nice bass sounds evident, but back row suffers tuning on long notes. Full ensemble produces a nice sound and the MD has stamped his authority on the style. Good stuff this. Excellent 'Fanfares' throughout, quaver passages could be more controlled, but still some very good playing. Big sounds into cornet solo which is played excellently with panache, sop has a few mishaps, but recovers well in duet. Again good accompaniment from remaining ensembles.

Another good start to movement, especially trombones. The band are playing really well here and enjoying themselves. Good horns - but be very careful with tuning, concentrate right to the very end. Percussion seems a bit to loud at the end but band produces a well rounded chord to finish.

A little corker this, and in my opinion would be awarded 1st prize for a very enjoyable performance of a very difficult piece of music.

We have offered our opinion of the bands performance based on the music, and on what we hear; and not on the technicalities of notes and other musical markings in the score etc.

Please don't be offended if you don't agree with what we write. This will simply be a combination of a report of our opinions on how we felt the performance went on the day, and of what's happening at the contest.

Please feel free to add your comments and your scores based on what you heard but please remember to keep these constructive and within the spirit of tMP and our guidelines. :)
