Opening not together, second time it works. 1 Good horns and baris with plenty of rhythm. Horns a little quiet for f and semis not clear before 3. Good troms at 3 and horns play with style. Side drum early before 4. Melody line in cornets could be a little more convincing. Cadenzas - excellent. Risoluto is excellently played with lots of style.

6 Good troms and baris accompany horn solo. The odd blip in euph line detracts a little. Good sounds evident at 8 - nice big bass sound. Excellent bass quartet with good soloists above. Excellent build into 10 - split in Trom! Good cornet soloist again with euph. Good build through 11 to 13. Come Prima again not together. Vivace Too many splits in cornets and horns although it is very good playing, all melody lines can be heard. 20 Good quavers throughout the band to 21.

22 Flugel intonation! 23 This is moving pretty fast great rit in to Maestoso. We dont get a pulse with the 2/2 time signature? Good final bars to close.

A very good performance of a difficult piece of music. Well done to Band and MD. Would expect it to be in the first 3.

We have offered our opinion of the bands performance based on the music, and on what we hear; and not on the technicalities of notes and other musical markings in the score etc.

Please don't be offended if you don't agree with what we write. This will simply be a combination of a report of our opinions on how we felt the performance went on the day, and of what's happening at the contest.

Please feel free to add your comments and your scores based on what you heard but please remember to keep these constructive and within the spirit of tMP and our guidelines. :)
