A tentative start, but the band recovers well. Lots of nerves around the stage this afternoon! Some fine ensemble playing during opening section - with much dynamic contrast.
I hear some slight intonation issues around 3:00 into the piece with cornets and trombones.
Lovely cornet solo that followed a very nervous Euph solo (was it euph? - no score sorry!). When the band plays in unison there is a superb sound to be heard, and you play all together very well.
Smashing Basses in 4/4 but cts not quite together when they pick up semi-quaver rhythm. Flugel sits nicely on top when your entry commences. Some effective use of dynamic contrast, well balanced and controlled. Once again the unison parts are quite spectacular, with Mr Buckley controlling the band very well indeed.
Tuning issues heard on slow Trombones/Horns section prior to Trombone solo. The solo itself is nicely played, and ct sits nicely on top when you come in. Very sonorous sounding Trombone solo - well played!
Lovely 'hidden' Euphonium part (quavers I think) being played there, well done!
Slightly messy entries around the start of the next march/fanfare section and cornets are not very tidy entering the semi section prior to the rallentando.
Excellent ending... very well controlled dynamics, and huge sound.
All in all not a bad performance, marred by a few nerves and some slight intonation issues.
