Grand opening... excellent start.

Again, very difficult to comment specifically without a score to refer to, but this piece is progressing beautifully with the band producing a wonderfully balanced sound. I would like to have heard more from the Basses, but so far... so good.

Slightly messy horns on quaver entries before fast section...

Also a little messy into the fast section and seems to lose a little control here too. The sound also seems to have become harsh, certainly more harsh than it was when you started the piece.

Nice muted effects...

Messy sop on 7/8 (sorry)

Into slow section..... nice balance in muted cts, horn and flug miss entries...

Sop Solo: tentative start but you recover fully. Nice solo ct sound... esp on lower notes... nice Flg

This is now building into a well balanced section at this point... semi-quaver section: excellent start to this, keep in time... lovely Euph sound... cts/trom well balanced too... I feel the sound is a tad too harsh from the cornets within this section... it's a shame!

Flug/Horn into fast section works well...

Again, a little messy on fast semi quaver runs.

Bass / Bass Trom good start and accel...

Tuning on top D's cornet!!!

Finale: good sounds to close with good accel and presto!.

thanks.

We have offered our opinion of the bands performance based on the music, and on what we hear; and not on the technicalities of notes and other musical markings in the score etc.

Please don't be offended if you don't agree with what we write. This will simply be a combination of a report of our opinions on how we felt the performance went on the day, and of what's happening at the contest.

Please feel free to add your comments and your scores based on what you heard but please remember to keep these constructive and within the spirit of tMP and our guidelines. :)
