Solid opening, very bright and articulate, very impressive. Nice muted cornets - it works well. Horns excellent in triplets... shot notes spot on... :tup
Maintaining a high standard of playing in this opening movement, the short 'concert march' section is sprightly... very well played. I hear superb Flugel in there somewhere too!! Very impressive playing...
Super work on Soprano on semi's... you never falter... the band remain totally together in their playing with no issues at all thus far. This is really good stuff... cornets on high runs are superb... as are horns on triplet runs... what a fantastic section this was... well done.
Cornet solo nicely played, very expressive... I like the gentle backing given by the back row. Soprano takes over smoothly too... you are all in tune with each other (and I don't just mean in the intonation sense!!)... lovely Eb Bass... and your Steven Mead lookalike (from the back of the hall anyway) does well on Euph (no offense meant sir) :)
Nice Flugel again in 3/4 section before accel... Unison cornets very well played indeed... awesome playing, and you simply must have rehearsed this numerous times to get that played so accurately together - well done. This is running along smoothly and into the Waltz section is sublime. The balance is excellent... gorgeous sound too! Great Bass work... and when horns then cornets come in the balance is maintained... this listener is enjoying this a lot. I am not the man in the box, but if I were, you'd be up there.
Impressive performance... I'd predict a top placing somewhere.... thanks.
