The PolySteel Band is officially top of the class in the West of England after it romped to victory in the West of England Regional Championships held in Torquay yesterday.
There’s been a bit of drought in terms of London appearances for PolySteel in recent years but the band has truly earned its qualification to the National Brass Band Championships.
Commenting on the victory, Musical Director Philip Harper said: "I'm delighted and relieved to have finally won the West of England title after so many years of near-misses. The band worked incredibly hard in rehearsal and we found the piece a real challenge. Having said that, it's every conductor's dream for his players to recreate on stage the standard we reached in the bandroom, if not better. The credit goes to the players who were absolutely ‘up for it’ and delivered the goods when it mattered."
