''PRESS RELEASE''
Maidenhead Citadel Band is pleased to be hosting the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army for a weekend of music in the Royal Borough.
The International Staff Band (ISB) is known for its highest musical excellence around the world. The band regularly undertakes weekend engagements in Salvation Army centres throughout the UK each year. Indeed the band is so much in demand that Maidenhead had to book two years in advance.
The band seeks to musical excellence and aims to show its Christian beliefs, influencing others through the music it plays. The members of the band give of their time freely, and indeed, playing in the band is an additional commitment to their involvement in activities at their local Salvation Army church, where many are involved in leadership roles.
The band also participates in most major Salvation Army events held in venues including London's Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Conference Centre and Royal Festival Hall. It features frequently in national television and radio broadcasts including BBC Songs of Praise, Radio 2’s Sunday Half Hour, Listen to the Band and GMTV.
In addition to their activities in the UK, the ISB tours abroad regularly - and recent trips have included America, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. The band has released numerous CDs of Salvation Army music, including a recent collaboration with the Black Dyke Band to produce a double CD recording of the published works of Wilfred Heaton (The Heaton Collection) - one of the Brass Band movement's most revered composers!
“If you want to listen to one of the top brass bands in this country today, don’t miss out” says Stuart Hall, the Bandmaster of Maidenhead Citadel Band who until recently was a member of the ISB trombone section for 10 years. The band will be doing a concert in St Luke’s Church, Norfolk Road on Saturday 21st October starting at 7:00pm.
The ISB will also be leading the Sunday services at 11.00am and 4.00pm at the Citadel in East Road on Sunday 22nd October.
