No, you haven't missed it Steve. We would have loved to have done one again this year, but our coding guru has been extremely busy outside of tMP lately, and just hasn't had the time to sort it I'm afraid. With only a few days to go before the finals, sadly it doesn't look like it will be happening this year - but you never know! If it does appear, rest assured you'll notice it!
However, this is far from the end of our predictathingy - it will be back - in one form or another in the near future.

it's ready, it's ready! I am just trying to finalise the link at the top, and ye can all have at it.
Again, apologies for my tardiness, it's been like a bajillion things at once and stuff!
Don't really know too much about t'other bands so in no particular order, my predictions for those there or thereabouts - I understand Marsden are on from at the mo, what with a fellow North Walian at the helm, also, the winners of their area, Drighlington.
Look out for Wire, lots of experience and Paul Andrews knows how to bring out a winning performance. Crewe also will offer a decent challenge. Kibworth are another with the know how!
The Scotts will also be about the top of the tree somewhere.
I also give a prediction of a decent performance from Northop - I know they've got a lot of experience and many in the band who won the same title back in the early 90's - Tom Wyss has returned and the band could well be getting somewhere close to the band of the early to mid 90's that went to represent Wales at the finals in the RAH for a couple of years etc. My money is on a top 6 of the following (not in any order) Northop, Drighlington, Marsden, Dalmellington, Wire, Kibworth. How wrong will I be?!!!?!!?!
Good luck to all...........

I'm not going to tempt fate and predict the 1st section!
I would definately tip Emley to do well in the 4th section, and they've a cracking cornet section for the contest.

Yeh i've heard that too...;)

Sorry, my prediction was a wee bit patriotic:clap:
On a serious not, Dalmellington have been one of the most consistent bands up in Scotland for the last couple of years or so,and are full of players who are of the highest calibre. They also have a very experienced man in the middle, and he knows what it takes to win contests.Don,t know the test-piece, but I am sure this band will be there or there abouts come results time.
Regardless, I hope all bands in all sections play well and enjoy their day. They are all there on merit, and there should be 4 terrific contests over the week-end.Good Luck all.

Hopefully, not wrong at all!! We have a good mix of experience and youth in the band (i'm somewhere in the middle!!).Think there are about 10 still in the band from the last time we won (1994) and so of a certain age ;-) and a similar number of teenagers, with our 3 percussionists having an average age of just 16!!
Anyway, my predictions are...
1st Section
1 Northop Silver
2 Marsden
3 Wire
2nd Section
1 Newbridge
2 Grangemoor
3 Lockwood
3rd Section
1 Flixton
2 Beaumaris B

1. Newbridge Celynen
2. Lockwood Brass

2. Rainford
3. Tullis Russell Mills (with Beaumaris B very close?!)

2. Emley
3. Oldham

:D For what is worth, I feel the 2nd section will be extremely tight, whilst on paper Newbridge should do the business given the past experience of their players, and expertise of conductor. However my contacts in the North West feel that for a dark horse prediction I would opt for Blackpool.
Newbridge are the pressurised band, Blackpool are out for a good day - no pressure lads!
For an outside punt for second - Barrhead.
