Hi guys

Just wondered if any of you stayed up to watch the Wynton Marsalis programs on BBC2 early this morning, or if any of you recorded them?

I watched the last bit of the 1st 1 and most of the 2nd 1 and they were very interesting. In the 1st 1 he talked about all the different aspects of music, and the 2nd 1 he talked about how to practice properly, and gave his own 12 tips on how to practice.

If any of you recorded it would it be possible for me to borrow a copy so that I could watch them all through again as i didn't know they were actually going to be on TV, i was just randomly flicking through the channels and saw that it was on. If anyone could lend me a copy I'd be very grateful.

Thanks for reading

Clive

Is this a repeat of the masterclasses that were broadcast a few years back with a load of youngsters or the documentary that looked at his background?

- his head-nodding to the music was addictive (if memory serves me well) :p

That's annoying - wish I'd known it was on too. Do you know what it was called?

These are excellent programmes and I'm sure there were 3 different programmes altogether.
And yes they were filmed at Tanglewood. You used to be able to buy these on video as I did several years ago. Don't seem able to find them at the minute though.
Some of the things I remember were, a young cornet player playing Carnival of Venice with no apparent effort and Wynton Marsalis and Yo Yo Ma doing a duet on Mood Indigo.

Hi Clive, hope you are well.

I have these programmes on video from when it was first shown on BBC2 in 1995.

You can borrow them if you want, not only are they entertaining but very eductional as well aimed at late Junior school / early secondry school pupils.

Send me a pm and we'll arrange for you to get them.

ps I'm in a slightly better mood than the last time I saw you (just after the results at a certain contest in Bradford a few months ago!).

All the best
Mark
