Do people know of any bands that have withdrawn or will withdraw.

Ammanford have withdrawn from the 1st section in Swansea....less than half the band there now. A very sad situation indeed........

Colin Hogg used to a few years ago and if I remember correctly, was doing very well too. He conducted Portishead band in WSM recently, you may wish to contact him via PM on here (username: Colin Hogg) and ask him directly.

Great that you are going to get more involved with tMP - always happy to read that... and Tim is a great supporter of tMP too. He is playing with us at the Whit Marches where we put out a tMP band. We have had great fun doing this for the past 3 years, and this year looks to be a superb turnout as well.

You might consider coming along - it would be a super way to meet some fellow tMP'ers and you'll have a great ****-up too!

Maybe next year, or maybe a different event later this year!Easingwold... ;) We are officially invited back by the organisers each year to formally open the proceedings. It is a long way to travel, but it's worth it as it's another super tMP event.

After that is Pontins where we are invited by the contest controllers to put on two concerts; one on the Saturday evening before the main entertainment event, and then again as we follow the last band on in the Championship section and play a 20 minute programme while the audience is waiting for the results.

Pontins has been a phenomenal success for us and is another superb event.

Hey, that's about right...he thinks Lawrence is class but just knows me!! Oh, well never mind...that wasn't a bad top end we put out on Tournament for Brass in Treorchy, didn't Mrs MusicMan play horn...rather well if I remember rightly. Yes if I'm up for any tMP stuff I'm sure I will be good enough to let you come too...if your music teacher allows it!!! I may be off school for Easingwold and there's always Pontins although our band won't be going this year.

By the way Andrew please not the spelling of Principal.....by the way have you been promoted?!!:) :)

Can't fault Drewdan's dedication to tMP he had 4 posts when I spoke to him this afternoon and now he has over 40 and he has become a supporter...good on you boy!!

Didn't you both go a little off topic there!! Yes, have term this week so will be spending a little more time on the computer. Will get in touch with as many Welsh bands as I can and try and get the Welsh news up and running. If anyone reading this has a bit of news let me know!!:tup :tup

Aww sorry Tim - I didn't mean anything by it... after all, that wouldn't be a particularly good reflection on one of your ex brass teachers would it.

Of course you're a good player... you're on the end at Whits...:)

who is conducting ammanford now? ...it's up for grabs!! Glyn Davies former solo trombone player, now conducting Gwaun Cae Gurwen, is conducting for the next fete but sadly we are down to around 14 players. I can't see the situation improving either.....to think we were 2nd Division National Champs back in 2000!!

TheMusicMan

It's all cyclical Alan, ups and downs over a period of anywhere between 3 to 10 years is the norm as far as I can tell. And before anyone pounces on me, I am of course not saying that this is the case for all bands, but it does seem to be a trend that is repeated regularly.

It happens all over, and across the board. It's a shame for Ammanford I must say.

Drewdan

Hello! yes, shame about ammanford cos they tend to be a good bunch of people! and i am the only Eb Bass player, i guess that makes me principle! haha, but i am better than Garnet so i would be anyhow! he dont wanna be principle! And yes Tim you truly are an awesome player!
