How do you get tickets for the Yorkshire Area? My mate is coming up for it and has asked St Georges Hall but had no luck with them. As I have never needed to buy a ticket and have no idea, does anyone know where you get them from?

Cheers,

Jayne

We just turned up for the Championship section last year - there was no problem getting them on the day.

We've never had any problem getting them on the day, after all it's probably unlike to sell out in the lower sections. But I guess you could buy your Champ sect tix on the saturday to guarentee you get in. I remember a jobsworth trying to stop me going into the lower seating area to sit with the band I was supporting during the results, just because I had a ticket for the upper area. The place was half empty and I was only going in for the results. I ignored him anyway and walked straight in.

I think last year that the Championship section tickets were discounted if you had/bought a ticket for either Saturday or Sunday lower sections.

what sections are on, on which day this year?

what do you think attendances would be like if they did 4, 3 and 2 on the sat. and 1 and C on the sun.?

nice contravertial question there (soz for going off topic, but i didnt think it was a big enough topic to put on as a seperate thread)

just to back up what the other guys said, theres not been any problems getting tickets on the day, and even the seats the tickets allocate you to, you dont really have to sit in the seats they say, just take your pick :D

Championship section may well be on Sunday night and Monday morning....

DRAW 4.00 p.m. COMMENCE 5.30 p.m.
14 bands playing Journey ttCoE with 4 percussionists and associated set up times.

I make that at least 10:30 finish (results at 11?) even if there are no breaks and everything runs smoothly.

Yeh, can't wait!

To the original question, I've always bought on the day.

Why is it such a late kickoff for the top section??

Our top section in Scotland is normally finished by 7pm on Sunday night.

Is it purely down to more bands in Yorkshire area? You feel sorry for the band drawn last!!

Can they not move the timings about? or is that too daft a suggestion ;-)

On the Saturday they play 2 sections and on the Sunday, the remaining 3. The Championship always starts at around 5pm. Last year the results were over by around 9.30 - 10 pm. I believe this year there are about 14 bands in the Top Section. St George's Hall, Bradford, only has one stage, so each section has to wait until the one before them has finished. Some contest arenas have more than one stage, so perhaps the late finish is not a problem for some other areas.

It does sometimes seem that we should have three sections on the saturday.

The bonus is that with one sectino at once no-one has to miss out on some of the top bands in the country battling it out!

We only have one section on at a time at the Scottish, only difference being we have 1st & Championship section only on the Sunday, other three on the Saturday.

Suppose with test pieces in lower sections being shorter it makes more sense to fit them all in on saturday, rather than having a crazy/late finish on Sunday night when people have to worry about travelling home etc

Maybe one for the Yorkshire committee......

With Section 2 being around 16 mins playing time i would'nt say this is short ,although generally your point would be valid. As for tickets ive always got them on the day.
