Hi Folks.

Predictions for the imminent Pontins contest can now be entered in the tmp database. Register your predictions now, and win the awe and admiration of your fellow tmpers.

Normal rules apply, 15 points per section, 5 for a correct prediction, 2 for having a misplaced band in the top 3.

Entries close on Friday night, and the link's at the top of the page.

Best of luck folks.

well then you'll be shunned, and your tmp file shall be held forever in a place that smells badly.

oooo - do I have a file?! How exciting!! Does it say all the times that I've been naughty on tmp and things like that? (which is obviously never because I'm a good girl :)
Well I'd better have a guestimate of who I think is going to win, so that you can have a laugh when you're putting my file into the said smelly place.

Middleton are entered in the 3rd section for pontins but aren't on your prediction list. We're not on the official pontins site either......

i think you have missed one of the bands in the 2nd section cant see frickley south elmsall.

i was going to vote for em too

Greenall's are definately playing in the 2nd section - come in as a reserve after withdrawals.

madandcrazytromboneguy
24.10.2005, 23:42
perhaps some research should be done to revise these lists of the bands you can vote for coz there seems to be a fair few not on there, it currently isnt a fair list to pick from as there seems to be bands on there who some of us would vote for who aren't currently included on the lists

We post the list of bands we are advised are entering. Despite what you might believe, we don't make them up.

Frickley South Elmsall -> 2nd section
Hebden Bridge -> 2nd Section
Greenalls -> 2nd section

If anyone wants to change an entered section, simply resubmit for that section.

As John has said, we try, but late entries etc sometimes mean that our lists are not complete or up to date. If there's something incorrect, or missing, feel free to point it out.

jesus john, i wasnt critisizing, i was just suggesting, keep your hair on!

and just for your info, i wasnt suggesting you made them up!

TheMusicMan
25.10.2005, 01:15
But we most certainly do undertake research before we enter the details of competing bands into our Predictogizmo Clive...

I don't have my hair off and neither a I annoyed Clive, my comments were made in more of a flabbergasted manner - as I simply don't know how you thought we put those details into the system without research..!!

madandcrazytromboneguy
25.10.2005, 01:39
1 thing i noticed was that the top 3 sections are well represented by yorkshire, but the bottom 2 sections only have 1 each

could anyone suggest why this is the case?

Maybe you could carry out some research into this Clive ;)

One very minor point,

I don't think the boys & girls of Jackfield (or the sponsors come to that) in the 1st Section will like being called (El Cock Reisen)?! The sponsors are Elcock Reisen Travel, a local coach company & not a Spanish Chicken!

Sorry, a bit picky I know, but.......

Not picky at all, 'pecky' perhaps..................?

I'm sure Kepps will amend their name soon. Ta.

one thing i dislike about the predictions contest - you can't read peoples comments about the bands they think will/will not do well! pretty random comment but there you go :) x

Hi there.

Sorry to seem picky, Ashton Band realised in August we wouldn't be going (as I said on thread) .

Don't know why Pontins haven't updated their website - we certainly weren't in the draw. Some poor people have even voted for us!

Keppler
25.10.2005, 14:44

Ashton-Under-Lyne sadly removed from Champ section

Anyone who has voted for Ashton, it's your responsibility to make another selection if you so wish.

Glyn, would you mind dropping me a pm with the behaviour you observed, perhaps we can sort it out for you.

It seems Pontins have made a really poor job of amending the entry list - looks like they haven't updated since end of August. Sounds fairly dodgy, though does mean the pre-draw is not as much of a risk with the adjudicators, if they think bands are there who are not etc......

United Co-operatives 2000 Brass are regularly being mis-named. Both tmp and Pontins have us down as 200 Brass, and 4BR keep using our old Normid name. Sometimes the Co-op 2000 and Normid names appear during the same article!

there should be a pop-up shouldn't there?

TheMusicMan
27.10.2005, 10:24
No, not a pop-up, but a new browser window should open up for you that looks like the one in the attachment.

laurz_oconnor
27.10.2005, 13:08
make sure your pop up blocker is off before you try

Keppler
27.10.2005, 14:25
as has been mentioned, it does not operate by way of popups. If anyone has queries or is experiencing difficulty, feel free to send me a pm.

It rather sounds like the problem I had with my old computer at work, which would not allow the opening of an additional window: have you tried holding down the "Ctrl" key while clicking on the link?

What happens if a band withdraws on the day or the day before? Is this taken into account on the predictions?

Just wondered!!!!!!

Keppler
27.10.2005, 15:35
How do you suggest this be "taken into account"?
Entries can be changed at any time up until the contest is closed (Fri evening) - If you want to change your entry for whatever reason up until then, you're more than welcome to.

the higher sections tend to have more experienced players hence being older. what with the decline of music especially brass in schools, there are less players coming through and feeding into lower section bands. this is only my theory and i am willing to here anymore.

Is this in Internet Explorer by any chance?

My 'popup' blocker doesn't differentiate between whether I clicked or not, believing this to be a way around other blockers. So, popup or new browser window, my app treats everything as a popup unless I press control, or right click and go to "Open in New Window".

Woei!
Well sounded like a great weekend indeed, and the tMP prediction results are in.
We've a slightly unusual situation, in that our top 3 are all tied on the same number of points, so we'll just be in collective awe of them all, shall we.
Congratulations to our joint winners, all on 31 points:
-- jimball
-- johnford
-- rickcowens2005 (he's done it again)

Again, thanks for entering all.
