I hate it, the smell of it makes me heave! :?
There's supposed to be this thing about it, "You either love it or hate it!"

The worst time of my life was spent working in France where you can't get it for love nor money. (Marmite, that is).
When I came home I bought a hundredweight to take back to Paris but without exception the French hated it. "Ze Eenglish eat zis staff" they would say as they passed it around to sniff.
I nearly killed a small Japanese girl once by telling her to spread it nice and thick to get the full flavour...

Nah. Forget Marmite.
Vegemite is the stuff! It's the Puppies Jewels.
You can't beat marmite on crusty bread so fresh that you can't slice it less than an inch thick, you know bread straight out of the baker's oven, well, when it's cooled down a bit anyway.
It's not bad atop a piece of toast, but my favourite toast topper has to be curry paste and tuna. Magic!! Good for hangovers too!! (honest)

My parents live near Burton so was brought up on the gorgeous aroma.
When I was at uni and used to get the train home to see them I used to love the smell of it as I got off the train.
In fact I can smell it now. MMMMMMM!!!!
Lizi i'm with you on this generally, but i like eating twigglets (the edible sort in bags). I think its awful out of the jar. NASTY, NASTY, NASTY :!: :!:

Marmite roast potatoes are just the thing on a sunday!
Although my Dad used to say that eating marmite was like licking a nine volt battery (or was that ginger people?)
Yummy. Just imagine having to play an instrument of a marmite lover, if you weren't. Would it be like the adverts? hehe
I was thinking just the same thing. It would make a great love / hate commercial. Picture the scene... intermission in the park. The band leave their instruments in the band stand and go for a cup of tea. Meanwhile a small boy who has been having a picnic lunch of marmite sandwiches sneaks up and has a crafty blow of all the instruments........ Band comes back and chaos ensues as half the band run away in disgust and the other half try to eat their instruments.
Personally I would be one of those running away - can't stand the stuff.
I think its a bravado thing like Vindaloo curries, Fishermans friends and liquerice Imps. Nobody really likes them at all - but it makes you look tough and cool if you appear to like them.

You couldn't be more wrong! Marmite is best when you're on your own(otherwise you have to share it). Also love hot curries...

Don't get me wrong - I love savoury things, spicy curries, menthol sweets, and liquorice. But there is a limit. Its like sweet things - I love sweets but wouldn't enjoy chewing a saccharine tablet. When something becomes painful to eat or assaults your senses like marmite does its time to stop.
And twiglets - what are they all about. Bits of dog biscuit painted with the stuff urrggghhh!

Disgusting stuff.
My brother once made me a sandwich which he told me was chocolate spread but was actually marmite. After taking one bite I went to the toilet and was sick.
Twiglets however are different - I quite like those (odd eh?)

After extensive and possibly illegal research it has been proven that cats like Marmite but guinea-pigs do not. Thereby proving that cats are more intelligent than guinea-pigs.
As to playing the instrument of a marmite eater, frankly playing the instrument of anyone who's eaten something only seconds before blowing is not a nice expereince. Second-hand beer, anyone? :x

Dave, I think you need of course of intensive exposure to the black elixir, this should bring you down off the fence!! Try eating a 1lb or 2 in a week, that should do it.

Fantastic combined with Philadephia, or with chocolate spread or as I had the other day, Marmite and Roast Pepper Humous.
Definately love it. But the secret is in the thickness of the spreading, not too thick ...

Yeah, but your dog eats chilli con carne, custard donuts and pringles, and drinks guiness. And if you think I'm sharing a cabin with it in October you can think again.
Harriet
I don't think i've ever had Marmite before!!!! I'll try it someday, but not today.
Tuna Mayonnaise.......................mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm .
I LOVE mayonnaise! And JELLY!! (Not together).
There's one to welcome twigglet home again. Jelly & Mayonnaise and Marmite sandwiches... (are you paying attention other-Twigges?)
If marmite is a beer brewing by-product why is it so ****** expense!!

Isn't there supposed to be a theory about twigglets and cadbury cream eggs, you can like one but not the other? I can't see that myself, I love cadbury cream eggs but not twigglets, hate em, but I can't imagine people who like twigglets not liking cream eggs!
It's true! I love twiglets and marmite but hate cream eggs! Also hate Caramac - can anyone rmember them?

Random Marmite fact:
Having a high Vitamin D (or is it B?)content, eating copious amounts of Marmite prior to visiting Kielder Forest, Scotland (especially Knoydart) or the Tropics, means that your body will secrete a natural insect reppellent!
Obviously your body will do this regardless of your location, but in these places you will benefit from it most.

I thought if you were taking MAOIs you had to live on distilled water and air. Nearly every drug I've ever seen says "not to be taken with MAOI". Including Calpol, which is a bit worrying.

You cant beat getting up in the morning with a strong coffee and thick sliced toast with lashings of the black stuff on it! so thick it looks like road tar being melted on to a freshly prepared road!. Just dont wash your teeth BEFORE eating it cos it has a rather strange taste!.
