New signings at Newtongrange
Newtongrange Silver Band is pleased to announce a number of new signings as it
finalises its line-up for the forthcoming Scottish Championships.
Last years First Section champions welcome Ray Collins (Bass Trombone),
Charlotte Davey (1st Horn), Ian Davey (Euphonium), Donnie McMillan (B Flat
Bass), Hannah Mitchell (Tutti Cornet), Lynda Scobie (Percussion) and Davie
Thomson (B Flat Bass).
Ray and Donnie, a former CWS Glasgow player, both join the band from Barrhead
Burgh. Charlotte has made the short journey from Dalkeith & Monktonhall having
previously appeared with Bo'ness & Carriden and Kingdom Brass. Ian's resume
contains spells as Principal Euphonium with both Faireys and Fodens. Hannah's
previous band was Bathgate and she is a former Freckleton player. Lynda last
took the contest stage with the Crownhill British Legion Band, Plymouth and
ex-Whitburn player Davie completes an all-new B Flat Bass section having joined
from Broxburn & Livingston.
Band Manager David Spence is “delighted with the quality of the new signings as
it strengthens all sections of the band as it continues its preparations for
its return to the Championship Section under the direction of Allan Ramsay.”
