Fishburn Band aided financially by Thompson Solicitors

One of the North of England's most successful brass bands are proud to announce that they have secured welcome financial help, with the announcement that Thompson Solicitors are to support them with a three year sponsorship deal.

The Fishburn band stems from the mining community of the small village of Fishburn near Sedgefield, where it was formed in the 1950’s. While the band has had financial support from companies such as ‘National Smokeless Fuels’ in the past, the band has been self supporting for most of its life relying on vital support from the local community and Social Club, with a unique support group having been formed to help the band.

Thompsons Solicitors are the largest specialist personal injury practice in the United Kingdom with over 800 staff in a network of 20 offices nationwide. Since 1921, they have been closely involved in the growth and development of the trade union movement, taking a direct part in helping unions to protect the interests of their members.

Announcing the support Thompsons Solicitors, North East Branch Manager, Robert Wood said:
“Our sponsorship is based on our wish to build, strengthen and maintain our links with the communities we have served for many years. Fishburn Band are an integral part of the community they serve and a byword for excellence. We are proud to be associated with them.”

Mal Usher, the Fishburn manager commented on the news:
“We are delighted that Thompsons solicitors have agreed to provide the band with some financial support for the next three years. The band continually strives to maintain its high profile and standards both on and off stage and the help from Thompson solicitors will help the band achieve this. I would also like to thank Billy Elliott for all his hard work in helping secure this support.”
