Perky - one of your more random threads I take it?

Citroen Picasso - on board computer thingy reckons I average 53 mpg - mainly driving up and down the A50 from Uttoxeter to Nottingham. It is a 2L TDi but my son's go kart is probably faster.

Ive got an Audi S4 Quattro, its got a 4.2L V8 engine, kicking out 344bhp and its averaging 19.2mpg just now!!!!!

I normally get about 200mile to a tank running about here, but my record is 154 miles then the fuel light came on (i had a rather heavy foot that day!!), just as well I dont use the car every day!!

I've got a wonderful collection of 1970's cotton reels, but I'm missing an important 1973 Sunset orange mercerised cotton. What's everyone else got in their collections?

55.3mpg teaching Learners (lots of over revving and burny clutches whilst pootling around town)

    That's in a Corsa 1.3 CDTi - I'd go for upwards of 60 on a motorway

50mpg in a Renault Scenic 1.5TD ...I was averaging 54mpg when I took the back seats out the first year :( ....we had no need for them.;)

I would say I haven't got a sarcastic bone in my body but my left femur has a tendency that way. Although my patellas are more ironic and my clavicles are definitely satirical.

Not quite as bad as Bill, but I get around 24 from the 2.5 V6 Jag X-Type (FoMoCo Mondeo engine really)

Ok with the fuel consumption - 23mpg - it's a Mazda RX-8 - but oil consumption is ridiculous - got through 2 gallons (10 litres) in 14,000 miles.

Aww you missed an opportunity to say "w4nkel" there :(

My Vectra 1.9 CDTi does about 45MPG.

My fuel consumption consists of breakfast, lunch & dinner.

As for my car when it runs low of petrol I fill it up again. Can't worry what mpg it does. I like the car and I can afford the petrol it uses.

    With you there....
though it doesn't bother me as I have a fuel card from work.
I really don't have any interest in what it does, when it's empty I fill it up!!

Granted, if I were running my own car on my own money then I'm sure I'd check - maybe not to the extreme of checking exactly what mpg I do though.
Maybe I'll buy a Hummer H1......about 3 to the gallon.....

Looks like I'm winning with the trusty "can't get coarser than a Corsa":p

Can't believe there weren't more puns on the RX-8 being a bit "w4nkly" :sup

I get 50.9 mpg again teaching learner drivers so plenty of over revving and biting of nails in a Renault Clio 1.5 diesel

    That's a w4nkel design based Rotary engine.
    As also seen in the 1970's NSU RO80 (I think it's RO80)
