29th October, 7.00 pm, Joseph Chamberlain College, City of Birmingham Brass Band

Earlier this year we invited under 25s from the area to write a piece for brass band. The entries far exceeded our expectations and we're now hard at work rehearsing 7 varied, modern and quality pieces that could make up a great concert.

But this isn't JUST a concert, there are 2 (significant!) cash prizes on offer for the young lads who've entered. A winner picked by a panel of professionals, and more importantly, a winner picked by you guys - the audience! If they're the same one then he's going home rich!

If you're involved in brass banding then you're probably always on the look out for new music, especially original writing for band. This is a chance for you to check out some of the new talent coming through (and trust me - they really are talented).

We'll be performing a concert in three thirds in the fantastic hall at the college, the first two will focus on the new music, and then we'll keep you entertained whilst the votes are counted, allowing us to name a winner on the night.

Tickets are £7 (£5 concessions) and include a complimentary drink.

We can now confirm we'll also be playing a new piece by judge (and former principal trombone of the CBSO) Phil Harrison. That makes for 8 new pieces! Got to be worth checking out!
