The Yorkshire Wind Orchestra (MD Kieron Anderson) is seeking to appoint at least one regular trumpet player, as well as to build up our list of "deps". We rehearse on alternate Mondays in term-time in Wakefield and play about half a dozen high quality concerts per year. The playing standard is high, with some quite challenging music, but if you've played cornet in the 1st/top section you should be OK. We tend to use trumpets only for both trumpet and cornet written parts to achieve a more "symphonic" sound. There is no particular "hierarchy" in the trumpet section - top parts are split between the regular players, so it's always interesting for everyone.

If you're interested in doing something a little different to the normal brass band fare, please PM me or contact the orchestra manager direct through the website.

    Some "official" info!:

The Yorkshire Wind Orchestra is a quality wind ensemble made up of players from throughout the Yorkshire region.

Woodwind, brass and percussion create a fantastic sound, which can be both powerful and dramatic, yet also delicate and intimate.
Browse through our website to get to know the YWO and to explore our concert season.

Many of the YWO players are professionally engaged in music; some primarily as performers, others as instrumental teachers in Yorkshire. Students and dedicated amateurs are also valued performers who make the Yorkshire Wind Orchestra a truly regional ensemble.

Thanks to this thread, we recruited a great player for the band, but now he's re-located "down south", so we're looking again!

Our next concerts are October 21st in Harrogate and December 19th in Ilkley. We have a break over the summer, so could do with confirming the line-up asap.

    Get in touch!!
