We've had marmite, cream eggs etc, but something a little more serious this time. As someone who is very fond of fish, and who remembers when cod and chips used to be a cheap and handy meal, it seems to be getting harder and harder to find reasonable fish dishes. Also, with the need to conserve some of our hitherto most popular varieties it would be good to see what alternatives folk would recommend. So over to you - I've set up a poll for a few days, but please post with any suggestions, recipe ideas etc

Like I mentioned in the sandwich/bap/barm etc. thread - you just have to try a fish fingers, baked beans and ketchup toastie! ;)

My favourite type of poll - food related and I don't like fish. I try and make myself like it but its so darn salty!
I suppose if I had to make a decision it would be salmon as long as its coated in the juice of about 3 lemons and swallowed whole so you can't taste it....yum :(

(although may try Dyl's sandwich...I see the potential in it)

    try this:

mix breadcrumbs with lots fresh corriander and chives, tsp wholegrain mustard, pepper and olive oil coat one side of the haddock with the breadcrumbs and shallow fry crumb side down till golden. If it is a thick piece don't turn it over as the crumbs might fall off just cook in the oven for 5 mins or so. Serve with a soy sauce vinegarette made from 3 tbs olive oil, 2 tbs white wine vinegar 1tsp soy sauce and 1tsp mustard.....

Fave fish is mackerel but i don't think that was an option in the poll.

Cod and chips, dumped in a can of Heinz tomato soup, plenty bread and butter, pot of tea...heaven!!!
