I am selling my 8 month old Yamaha YCR8620 Xeno Soprano Cornet in Silver plate due to learning that I much prefer playing Cornet and Trumpet!!

It is in brilliant condition as you would expect for such a new instrument, probably hasn't even been blown in properly! Comes with Yamaha double trumpet case, Denis Wick straight mute, Soprano cornet stand and a yamaha 6B4 Sop mouthpiece (buy a different one, this one is in perfect condition, but awful!!)

Any questions please ask and if you want pictures then send me a message. I can arrange shipping at a cost, not sure ho much but probably about £20

I am looking for offers around £1600. Really is a great instrument, grab yourself a bargain.

Is the price a bit too much for people?

Offers around £1525 for a quick sale? It really is in good condition, pictures available if wanted.........

I think its because £1600 is the price you'd pay for a 2nd hand Xeno from the dealers, not a private sale. Unfortunately they do depreciate initially due to vat on the price from new and it now being 2nd hand. I've been after a 2nd hand Schilke for several months without success. Let me look at the reviews and I'll get back to you.

Don't just go by reviews - the Xeno is very much in the same league (as reviews will tell you), but they do play and sound a touch different to the Schilke.
You'd have to play it to know. Personally I chose the Xeno, and would again, because I preferred how it played side-to-side with a Schilke - we're all different though.

Wouldn't know on pricing, I bought mine when they weren't long released (was less than that new ).

If this were being bought from the dealers, then it wouldn't be classed as 'second hand', it would be classed 'as new', and they would knock a couple of quid off, it has literally been played about 30 times.

I purchased (and still have the original receipt) for £1700 which was a special discount of the actual sale price at the time, so I thought £100 (£175 now) off for very little playing and with a couple of extras thrown in was quite a good deal. I'm pained to jump through the hoops that eBay put in your way and would prefer to sell this in a more specialist area, without the staggeringly high fees.

It does play very well and I tried alongside a second hand Schilke, which was for sale at the same price, and preferred the response and sound that this instrument gave. Rosehills in Beconsfield are currently selling an 'as new' Xeno Soprano on eBay for £2000 so not overly sure how this can be classed as expensive. Maybe it is a downfall of living in the south.........

I had been looking at buying a brand new Schilke from USA at a good price due to a strong pound and weak dollar. Import tax would unfortunately kill me :(

The Xeno was another Eb Sop I'd considered. Matt, I'm not saying your instrument is expensive but when buying people look around for the best possible price

Rosehills are notoriously expensive, and on eBay are regularly about £500 or more over the going rate. To get a price for your cornet, do an advanced eBay search and include completed listings. This will give you the going rate. A Xeno Bb recently went for £550, but that was way low. Regular selling prices for Bb Xenos are around the £1250 mark. Soprano should be in and around the same. But don't take my word. Do the eBay search and you should find out.

That seems a more reasonable starting price. Just checked eBay and Hayes Music have two brand new Xenos for sale at £1498.

I can't afford to reduce the price down any further than this and I may have to resort to eBay, but hopefully someone will understand a bargain when they see one!!! £1200 for a quick sale.

It might be to your advantage to wait a little while before selling on ebay. Once the summer is over and people are settled back at work after their hols there will be more interest in and money for buying a better instrument. Perhaps there might be some Uni / Advanced students needing to upgrade too ready for the accademic year / course ahead. Good luck.

Yeah I'd thought about that. I wasn't about to give eBay 10% of the final sale price anyway, it's almost theft!!!

I just checked your listing and it looks like a perfect new Sop, there are several days to go before the auction ends but interest already which is always a good sign to buyers (it signals that other folk think that the item is sound too). Good luck.

Best of luck with it; looks a cracker.

You're a brave man not putting a reserve on it! Someone could end up with a hell of a bargain

Noticed your Xeno sold. Not a bad price. I know you said it had hardly been used, but the depreciation is savage as soon as you walk out of the shop.
