Wychavon Festival of Brass September 14[SUP]th[/SUP] and 15[SUP]th[/SUP] 2013

Bands are invited to enter this year’s contest held across two days in Evesham town centre. First and Second Sections will be held on September 14[SUP]th[/SUP] in All Saints church while Sunday 15[SUP]th[/SUP] sees the Third and Fourth Sections in Wallace House, the new contest venue. The Championship Section takes place in All Saints in the afternoon.
Cash prizes are good – ranging from £1500 for the Championship Section winners to £500 for the Fourth Section. The full range of prizes on offer can be seen on the website (www.festivalofbrass.co.uk)
Places are limited to ten, so bands are advised to get their applications in soon--- the closing date is July 20[SUP]th[/SUP].
The contest takes place during this year’s Steak and Pie Festival (which might have great appeal to some sections of the banding community!) held on the Saturday in Evesham Town centre which also hosts numerous cafes, pubs and other food outlets.
Please see the Wychavon website for further details and entry forms, or contact the contest Secretary, Keith Hemming: 01386 870069 or via email : kandsatband@yahoo.co.uk

Slightly worrying that there were so few 'local' bands (within 25 miles or so) at the contest. Only 4 or 5 from the West Midlands Association and a couple from Gloucestershire. Wonder why that is?

May have something to do with 1. The timing (holiday season just finished) 2. The noticeable decline in top bands & 3. I noticed that a local man was adjudicating I bet he's conducted a few of the bands around the area
