Why do people repeat information already posted?

Here is something that bugs me.

Now I know that we all try to be lovely and helpful here in tMP land. I know that as I recevied some superb help yesterday with a query I had.

However it really annoys me when after somebody has raised a question, a person has replied with information, then others repeat the same information.

What makes it al the more laughable is that these replies are all on the 1st page! I can understand it when the thread is multiple pages long, but not on the first page! A fine example is this thread on arranging.

So why do people do it. To look clever and impressive? Well I could repeat speeches from great leaders, would that make me look as clever and knowledgable as them. I doubt it.

Is it to boost your post count? Wll there is no awards on here for contributing the most posts on here!

Is it to make new friends? Well I would never be impressed with somebody who I met for the first time and all they could do was repeat what others were already saying!

So now I have my rant over here are a few tips:

    1) Remember its quality not quantity of posts that impresses people
    2) Make your post count not just boost your post count
    3) Repeats on tv are dull. Repeats on here are too.

Finally to paraphrase Mark Twain. Its better not to post on tMP and be thought of as an idiot, than to post on tMP and prove it.

In the defence of Bobby Dazzler, he is new to tmp and maybe unsure how to search and find threads

Its funny actually looking on that particular thread Chunky used as an example. Chunky abviously taking the mick puting all the posts together and everyone is carrying on as normal completely unware of this thread!!
