Just got in from the contest, had a decent day, depsite the early start (well it felt early because of the clocks going forward).

From what i remember these were the lower section results.

    4th Section
    1st: Darwen
    2nd: Formby
    3rd: Besses Boys
    4th: St John Mossley
    5th: Blackley
    6th: Farnworth
    7th: Sale

    3rd Section:
    1st: Oldham
    2nd: Greenfield
    3rd: Boarshurst
    Don't know the rest.

Well done to my mate Stu on his first prize as a conductor with Greenfield!

Someone beat me to it on results but not to worry. However we are over the moon with that result, when Formby who also won the best bass section trophy were announced as second place, some of us thought, "well we maybe got fourth". To hear we had won it was obviously of great and unexpected excitement, I can only say well done folks to all the rest of the band.
Also well done to all the bands who competed to make this another great contest.

Yep, great result for Greenfield today :D :D

    Onwards and upwards!

  22. Sat through 4th - 2nd sections today. Some excellent playing, but also some disappointing peformances too in the forth section with some 'safe' playing. I really enjoyed sitting in the audience and not playing - gave some real perspective with no biased. I agreed completely with top four placings in third section though the three in the prizes were really close - small things placed one above the rest. Also really enjoyed the second section. Point of Ayr sounded exceptional, though I really thought Tyldesley's performance of Circumnavigator would have been higher in the results. Anyone from today going to Buxton?
