We have to play Henry Wood's Fantasia on British Sea Songs at a concert on 21st July (10 days away). We're drawing a blank from the bands we normally borrow this from.

Any ideas where I might get hold of a set of parts? I believe it's out of print.

It's arranged (and heavily abridged) by Denis Wright, if I recall correctly.

Who have we tried to borrow it from? I remember playing it with the Wantage B (if not C) band in the early 90s.

It is also rather heavily scored - originally set for brass and reed, I think - and benefits from some judicious thinning out of parts.

Yes it is Denis Wright, we played it on Saturday...may be able to help you if you really get stuck. It's in our pads at the moment but I'll be collecting it in sometime next week.

Send me a PM if you need to :D

I don't know if this is relevant - but I'm currently playing this a lot on 'muddy field' Last Night of the Proms style orchestral gigs.

We always start at figure 5.

    Have fun.

It's not out of print and is available from Studio Music (or Just Music etc)
