Having had a look at the members' list, I'm fascinated by how many identify themselves by their instrument. So, in the interests of being nosey....

Which instrument/position do you play (in brass bands)?

my daughter plays baritone and she enjoys it. She says it's not as heavey as a euphonium but doesn't have the sound of a horn. Shes been playing for about 10 years 8 of which was on baritone. But it's a shame to see most people play cornet hehe :D

I was principal cornet of Barnard Castle Band but left after the nationals to go to BHK (UK) Ltd Horden band on 2nd cornet, but was told on sunday at the Durham League contest that I was going on front row.

    Great! but scary.

horn! but I'm currently bandless, and so didn't fill in the poll as to whether I'm solo/1st/2nd!

Was actually torn on what to vote for - I played Flugel until recently, and still play Flugel for the Divisional Youth Band, although they only practice once-a-month

Primarily play Euphonium though, for the corps band I play in, although was only swapped onto Euph approximately two months ago

I play Sop in Brass bands but tend to play more Trumpet/Picc. I'm just a silly person that likes playing high stuff really

Tenor trombone. Was playing with GUS, but couldn't commit to the schedule. Generally play 1st or 2nd in my job (freelance player). I also moonlight on Bass Trumpet, Euphonium, Alto Trombone and occasionally G Trombone and have been known to play the Ophecliede if the money is good enough!

Until recently, tenor horn. Then moved to 4th (wo)man down cos we were in dire need of cornets :). But, as of Monday, I'm on flugel :D :D and loving every minute!

I'm only an Eb player at the minute but I'll soon be rejoining the elite when I move back onto the beast

I've re-named myself 'miss versatile' because I can play a few instruments it seems. From December 2004 until currently I have played, rep, solo cornet, 2nd cornet, 3rd cornet, solo horn, 1st horn, 2nd horn, solo baritone, 2nd baritone, solo euph.
I am playing solo/2nd baritone currently, but i'm kind of pining for my cornet again.
For the vote poll I'm putting baritone is the instrument I play :)
